The first recorded Attorney General was in 1243, when the King hired a professional lawyer to represent him in Court. By 1461 the position had a political function, as the Attorney General was summoned to give legal advice to Parliament. In 1673, the Attorney General formally became the Chief Law Officer of the Crown.
Parliament is a brand of cigarettes, marketed by Phillip Morris in the U.S. and other countries. The brand was introduced in 1931, and is distinctive for its use of a recessed filter tip.
Philip* Morris, the company, was established in New York City in 1902. Philip Morris, the man, was from London, and in 1847 his family ran a tobacco shop there and sold loose tobacco and pre-rolled cigarettes.
Ironically, Philip Morris died in 1873 from lung cancer while his widow Margaret and son, Leopold Morris, carried on his cigarette trade.

In 2009 Jim Carrey starred in the romcom I Love You Phillip Morris, which was a biography of a real-life Phillip Morris and had nothing to do with the tobacconist Philip Morris or the corporation that bears his name.
The original Morris the Cat, the star of the 1970’s commercials for 9Lives cat food, was found at an animal shelter in the Chicago area in 1968.

The Leo Burnett advertising agency, headquartered in Chicago, has a history of creating popular “spokescritters” for brands, including Morris the Cat (9Lives cat food), Charlie the Tuna (StarKist Tuna), the Jolly Green Giant (Green Giant vegetables), Tony the Tiger (Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes), and the Pillsbury Doughboy.
The American mechanic Charlie Taylor worked closely with the Wright Brothers on the first successful powered airplanes, and later served as chief mechanic for Cal Rodgers as he became the first person to fly across the country, “crash by crash,” as one biographer wrote, in 1911.
Charles Taylor was a Canadian author who wrote on political topics.

Chuck Taylor of Converse All-Stars fame was a semi-pro basketball player before joining Converse as a salesman running basketball clinics to sell shoes.
(Aside:) Charles Taylor was also a decent political science prof. One of his good qualities was, despite some fame and recognition, he insisted on teaching the undergraduate intro politics course. A lot of academic superstars consider themselves above such things.
You may have heard of singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, especially in recent weeks. Beginning in 2009, she has embarked on numerous high-money-grossing tours. As of October 2023, her net worth was estimated at 1.1 billion dollars.
Taylor Swift’s current boyfriend is Travis Kelce, #87 on the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce is a tight end on the team. He attended the University of Cincinnati and played there on the Cincinnati Bearcats football team.
Kelce plays today in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas at Allegient Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers’ tight end is George Kittle, #85. Kittle attended the University of Iowa and played there on the Iowa Hawkeyes football team.

The Stutz Bearcat was an open-top sports car / racing car, originally made by the Stutz Motor Car Company from 1912 until 1923. The Bearcat was successful in racing in the 1910s, and has endured as a symbol of the “Roaring '20s.”
The Bearcat model name was revived briefly in the 1930s, and again in the 1970s through 1990s, as a luxury car.

There was a short-lived (half a season) TV series in 1971 called “Bearcats!” starring Rod Taylor and Dennis Cole. Taylor and Cole played two adventurers-for-hire in the American west in the pre-WWI 20th century who used a 1914 Stutz Bearcat as their means of transportation.

The University of Cincinnati’s teams are called the Bearcats.
Cincinnati was founded in 1788. Located on the Ohio RIver, it was directly across the river from the mouth of the Licking River. In fact, the original name of the town was Losantiville, which means ‘The Town Opposite the Mouth of the Licking.’ The settlement was renamed to Cincinnati in 1790 by Arthur St. Clair, the Northwestern Territory governor.
WKRP in Cincinnati was a television sitcom, which originally aired on CBS from 1978 until 1982. It was an ensemble comedy, about a struggling AM radio station in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show’s creator, Hugh Wilson, based it on his experiences while working as a sales rep at a popular Atlanta radio station.
Though WKRP was only a modest success during its original run, it saw greater success as a syndicated re-run in the 1980s, and spawned a sequel series in the early '90s. It also served as a springboard for the career of actor Loni Anderson, who played the station’s receptionist, Jennifer Marlowe.
Christopher Marlowe was an Elizabethan playwright. He was killed in a tavern brawl in 1593 at age 29. There has long been speculation whether it was really just a tavern brawl, or if he was killed for other reasons. His killing is a plot point in Shakespeare in Love, which win the Best Picture Oscar and an Oscar for Judi Dench, who had one of the shortest Oscar winning roles in history.
Blues musician Robert Johnson died following a performance at a country bar. Reports say he was poisoned by a jealous husband of a woman Johnson has been flirting with that night. Fellow bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson claimed to have been there, and said Johnson was gifted a bottle of whiskey. Williamson admonished Johnson about accepting open bottles from strangers, but Johnson went ahead and drank from it that night.
Johnson died on August 16, 1938, at the age of 27; his death was one of the many deaths of musicians at that age which included Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.
