Oly beer, from Olympia Brewing Company of Washington state, was brewed from 1896 to 2003. It was acquired by Pabst in 1999, and the Washington brewery closed in 2003.
Olympia (or “Oly”) Beer, which was the flagship product of the Olympia Brewing Company, used the tagline, “It’s the Water,” which referred to the beer being brewed using water from artesian wells. In the 1970s and 1980s, Olympia ran an ad campaign in which it was humorously suggested that “Artesians” were mysterious creatures which provided said water.
In my mind, Olympia Beer and Product Placement are synonymous. Nearl yevery film with a bar scene has a lighted Oly sign in the background. PP is a $1.8-billion dollar marketing sector. Reeses Pieces, in “ET” is notorious. One of the earliest examples was Corby’s Gin in “African Queen”
Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the College Board by a panel of experts and college-level educators in that field of study. For a high school course to have the designation, the course must be audited by the College Board to ascertain that it satisfies the AP curriculum.
Reed College, in Portland OR, was founded in 1908 and has roughly 1,400 undergraduate students — during normal, recent times. Actress Hope Lange and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs attended Reed College, but they did not graduate from there.
English actor Oliver Reed, who was a notoriously heavy drinker, died on the island of Malta in 1999 during a break from filming the movie Gladiator. Reed had been involved in a drinking competition with a group of sailors who were on shore leave from from the British Royal Navy frigate HMS Cumberland, then defeated five of the sailors at arm-wrestling, when he collapsed and died from a heart attack.
Of the three well-known crusader knights organizations (Templar, Teutonic, Hospitallier), The Hospitallier Knights of Malta are the only ones still in existence. The Knights still perform charity work and the group has sovereign status but is not a nation or state since it has no territory.
The two smallest nations in the world are both located in Europe. Vatican City, with an area of just .2 square miles, is located in the heart of Rome and is surrounded on all sides by that city. Monaco, which is about a 400 mile drive from The Vatican, has an area of 499 acres. It is surrounded on three sides by France; the fourth side is the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.
Vatican City and Monaco are both ruled by monarchs - an elective one, the Pope, in Vatican City, and a hereditary one, the Prince, in Monaco. The current Pope is Francis and the current ruling Prince of Monaco is Albert II.
The Monaco Grand Prix is an annual automobile race, traditionally held on the last weekend in May, and is part of the Formula One race series.
The race is held on a course which runs through the streets of Monaco – due to its narrow roadways, elevation changes, tight corners, and a tunnel, it is considered to be one of the most challenging race courses on the Formula One schedule.
F1 cars typically run with naturally aspirated, 3.0 liter, V10 engines producing about 1,000 horsepower. Their max speed is over 230 MPH. An F1 car can generate 6 Gs of lateral force/acceleration.

V8 Vegetable Juice was developed by Frank Constable of Chicago, Illinois. His blend - launched in 1947 as V8 Vegetable Cocktail Juice - was named after the V8 engine.
Constable Bay is located in Northern Greenland. It is the northernmost bay in the world. The bay was named in 1900 by Robert Peary after James M. Constable, a prominent member of the Peary Arctic Club in New York.
Greenland is generally considered to be the world’s largest island. (Australia is a continent, so technically it cannot be an island.) Anyway, the size of Greenland is 836,330 square miles. The 2020 population was estimated to be about 56,000, for a density of 0.1 persons per square mile.
The Australian continent also includes Tasmania and the island of New Guinea. In some technical contexts it is known by the names Sahul (/səˈhuːl/), Australinea, or Meganesia to distinguish it from the country of Australia.

The smallest widely-recognized nation is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which occupies a single building a short walk from the Vatican. SMOM is recognized by 56 countries, including Canada, Mexico, and even the Vatican, which cannot claim to be the smallest nation if it recognizes a smaller one.
Wouldn’t the Sovereign Military Order of Malta be better defined as a government in exile and thus be said to have a claim to the island of Malta, in much the way the original governments of many of the European countries overrun by Germany during WWII still maintained a claim to the territory of their respective nations by virtue of being the legitimate governments while operating as governments in exile in the UK?

The Order of Malta Ireland – Ambulance Corps is a voluntary ambulance and First Aid organization operating in Ireland in affiliation with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Its purposes include teaching first aid, providing ambulance coverage at large events, medical aid, patient transport, and community and nursing services. It has over 5,000 volunteers throughout the island of Ireland.
The Great Famine (sometimes referred to as the Irish Potato Famine) was a period of mass starvation in Ireland, from 1845 to 1849. The famine was caused by a potato blight, and led to a massive decline in Ireland’s population – over the course of the famine, roughly 1 million Irish died, and another 1 million emigrated (many to the United States).
