Key West is the southernmost city in the CONUS and the westernmost island connected by highway in the Florida Keys.
Key Club International is a service and leadership organization for high school students, and is a junior branch of Kiwanis International. Key Club will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding on this upcoming May 7th.
Key Club and DeMolay were the two largest youth clubs represented in my high school.
It is traditional for notable citizens to be given the ceremonial Key to the City in their hometown.
Citizens of Puerto Rico, a United States commonwealth, cannot vote, while residing on the island, for candidates for the U.S. Senate, House or for President of the United States. If they move to any of the fifty states, however, they can.
One important holding of the Dred Scott decision was that there was a state citizenship different from United States citizenship. The 14th Amendment changed that to a person holds US citizenship and is a resident of their state which, as SCOTUS has ruled, is independent of legal status in the United States.
OOP: the above is incorrect. They are residents of Puerto Rico, not citizens of Puerto Rico.
You don’t say!: How to Obtain a Puerto Rican Citizenship Certificate - Relocate to Puerto Rico with Act 60, 20, 22.
Dread Zeppelin was a reggae-rock band, whose original shtick was playing reggae-style covers of Led Zeppelin songs, with a lead singer who was an Elvis impersonator.
OOP: I looked into it and it seems like it has something to do with getting Spanish citizenship as if Puerto Rico were separate from the US. And even if there were a thing called Puerto Rico citizenship, legally they would be considered residents under US law.
Those certificates are official government documents issued pursuant to PR law. There is clearly such a thing as being a “citizen of Puerto Rico”: File:Application Form for Certificate of Puerto Rican Citizenship-Front.png - Wikimedia Commons
Most Americans are citizens of both a state and of the United States. No reason you can’t be a citizen of both PR and the US.

Although the Graf (Count) Ferdinand von Zeppelin spelled his last name with two Ps, the northeast German town from which his family took its name uses only a single P.
The Story of Ferdinand tells the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in bullfights. It was written in 1936 by American author Munro Leaf. It was banned in many countries, and Adolph Hitler ordered the book burned as “degenerate democratic propaganda.”
Munro Leaf wrote many other books, including Gordon the Goat, Noodle, Manners Can Be Fun!, Safety Can Be Fun!, Metric Can Be Fun!, Reading Can Be Fun!, Science Can Be Fun!, and Brushing Your Teeth Can Be Fun!
Mr. Noodle is a character who appears in the “Elmo’s World” segments of the children’s television show Sesame Street. The character, who never speaks, was originated by actor Bill Irwin; subsequently, a number of actors have portrayed Mr. Noodle’s similarly-silent siblings, including Michael Jeter, Kristin Chenoweth, Sarah Jones, Daveed Diggs, Daniel Koren, and Ilana Glazer.
(I was going to play off of Leaf but delayed and got ninja’d, so I’ll play off of street. Admittedly, not a strong connection!)
The Nissan Leaf, an EV car, has been produced since 2010 and has gone through two generations. The first generation was unveiled in August 2009 and was in production from 2010 to 2017. It was the world’s first mass produced BEV, battery electric vehicle, or street car.
The Leaf was the world’s all-time top selling plug-in electric car until it was surpassed in early 2020 by the Tesla Model 3.
“LEAF” is now a backronym for Leading Environmentally-friendly Affordable Family car.
(Comment only: in 2019 my wife needed to replace her wrecked VW Jetta and we got a used 2012 Leaf for $5,000. Cheap! It doesn’t have great range, only 45 miles, but that’s all she needs. I’ve never been a fan of its styling, but she loves it and it has been a great, cheap, second car.)
The second generation has been produced since 2018.
The third generation Nissan Leaf will come out this year, 2025, and it might be a crossover coupe SUV. Pic here ➜ https://www.drivingelectric.com/nissan/leaf/41411/trailblazing-nissan-leaf-to-be-reborn-as-a-coupe-suv-in-2025 ■
Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered in 1987, eighteen years after Star Trek: The Original Series went off the air, but was set about a century after the original series.
Three of the main cast members from the original Star Trek series reprised their roles on Star Trek: The Next Generation:
- DeForest Kelly had a brief cameo as a 137-year-old Dr. McCoy on TNG’s premiere episode, “Encounter at Farpoint”
- Leonard Nimoy played Spock (now a diplomat; Vulcans have much longer lifespans than humans) in the two-part episode Unification
- James Doohan played Scotty, who had been stuck in a transporter buffer (and not aging) for 75 years, in the episode Relics
Kelly, Nimoy and Doohan all served in the armed forces. Only Doohan saw combat, resulting in his famously missing a finger, shot off on Juno Beach on D-Day. He was actually shot six times; a cigarette case stopped a bullet from piercing his chest.
Leonard Nimoy’s service in the military was with the Army Special Services, which is the entertainment branch of the US military. He rose to the rank of Sergeant, and in 1955 one of the soldiers in his command was a young man named Ken Berry. Nimoy encouraged Berry to go to Hollywood and pursue acting. Berry went on to appear in a number of films and television shows, including F-Troop and Mayberry R.F.D.
Ken Berry made several guest appearances on The Carol Burnett Show. After the popular variety show ended in 1978, Berry would go on to join the main cast of Mama’s Family, a half-hour sitcom based on a series of sketches from the show.
Lake Berryessa in Northern California, named for the Berryessa family of California, is a reservoir formed by Monticello Dam which impounds Putah Creek. At its southeast end, near the dam, is the dam’s spillway located at DD coordinates ▲ 38.5122, -122.1049. Pasting those coordinates into a map’s satellite view will take you right there.
It is an uncommon spillway, used because a traditional spillway could not fit in the narrow canyon where the dam was built.
The spillway started spilling earlier this year when winter rains raised the lake’s level above the lip of the shaft. Earlier this month, on 01 April, I visited this spillway and took these pictures and videos. The lake level was 8” above the lip of the shaft spillway.
