Wow, ER and E/R missed being first aired exactly 10 years apart by 3 days.
Though Clooney wasn’t in E/R until later in the first season.

I cheated for the second title, because I knew of Temple of Doom, but I was thinking that the only other rip-out-a-heart movie from 1984 was The Terminator, and Capshaw wasn’t in that. So I had to look it up. Dreamscape. I’d forgotten about that heart-ripping scene. Apparently 1984 was a big year for hearts being ripped from chests.
In what 1960s movie is there a scene of Gert Fröbe flying across the English Channel?
It is surprising that such a serious looking fellow did comedic farces back than.
My question actually has three answers; two farces, one not.
When Hank Aaron retired, he led all major league baseball players. He stayed first until the mid-2000s, and is currently second.
What am I talking about, and who bumped Aaron out of first?
He was bumped out of first on the home run list by Barry Bonds, and out of first place alphabetically by David Aardsma.
Wow, I did not think anyone was going to get that one. I’m impressed.
How did you happen to know that?
The first one was obvious. The second could have been some other baseball stat but I figured it had to be some kind of “outside the box” answer. Since Aaron would have been near the first of the alphabetical list, I checked and found that Aardsma had replaced him. I didn’t know it previously.
Who played a criminal that got defeated by Adam-West-as-Batman, and also played a criminal that got defeated by Peter-Falk-as-Columbo?
Ooh, good question. Without looking it up I’d guess Victor Buono and Roddy McDowell.
Well, no (though Victor Buono would’ve been amazing as a Columbo villain).
Got to admit I’ll be a little surprised if there’s only two. Batman and Columbo were both important make-work projects for old character actors from the '60s/early '70s.
I wasn’t a regular Columbo watcher, but I think I’m familiar enough with it that I’d have noticed if Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, or Julie Newmar had played a villain on it. There were a lot of Batman villains, though; some of them only on for one or two episodes. (I just saw one with Shelley Winters last weekend.) I was trying to think of anyone who would have been a big enough name to be the guest murderer on Columbo, and did TV (as opposed to movies) work during the right era.
If not McDowell or Buono, I could list several more guesses. I don’t want to look it up, or give it away to someone else who wants to guess.
6 degrees of Frank Gorshin.
Anne Baxter and Roddy McDowall.
I didn’t know this offhand. It took some digging in imdb.com.
This was the first 1970’s group to have a number one hit with the song “Best of My Love”
Did you mean to put “first” in there. I know of two, but only one is “first”. Even if you’re talking about number one in different countries, there still seems to be one winner.
Yeah, agree that probably wasn’t the clearest way to phrase it-
The Eagles were the first band to take the song Best of my Love, written by Henley/Frey/Souther, to number one.
The Emotions were the first band to take the (different) song Best of my Love, written by White/Mckay, to number one.
