Follow-up question: which of the theme songs will be stuck in your head the rest of the day ?
The question could be rephrased to include Jeannie’s sister from I Dream of Jeannie.
Goodness! Seems this was a more common theme than I realized.
How about this:
What actor played two roles - siblings - in a 1960s TV sitcom?
Barbra Eden played Jeannie and Jeannie’s sister Jeannie II from I Dream of Jeannie.
Max Baer played Jethro and his sister Jethrine from Beverly Hillbillies.
Also, William Schallert who played Patty’s father and Cathy’s uncle also played his character’s own twin brother on the Patty Duke show. On Bonanza Hoss and Little Joe had some kind of evil twin look-alikes. Gilligan and Ginger encountered look-alikes. The twin thing was all over the place in the 60s. Started before then, continues to this day.
Jethro’s mother was Cousin Pearl played by Bea Benaderet . She appeared in most of the first season of Beverly Hillbillies including the pilot. The character “went home” when Bea was given a leading role in Petticoat Junction. Per the BH Wiki: “She starred as Kate Bradley, owner/operator of the Shady Rest Hotel, who was said to be a cousin of Pearl Bodine.” Pearl never appeared with Kate, though and thus were never on the same sitcom.
What scientific unit was named after an animal?
The host was looking for “mole”. I said “slug” and did not get points.
(yes, I realize that neither were actually “named after” the animal, and the question should’ve been phrased “shares a name with”)
Not to nitpick, but also: nit.
Who wrote the song Born to Run?
Bruce Springsteen (1975) for the album Born to Run and Paul Kennerley (1982) released by Emmylou Harris’ on her album Cimarron. Very distinct songs, for sure.
What company started in Lancaster County, Penn. was named after it’s founder Hershey?
If you include movies, there’s all the various versions of the plot which is most famously in the two films named The Parent Trap. You can see a list of all those versions in Lisa and Lottie - Wikipedia . Yes, I’ve mentioned this in other threads.
Without looking it up, I assume Hershey candies and Hershey Ice Cream. The Hershey candy company, by the way, didn’t start out making chocolates, although that became their major business.
You are correct. I thought Hershey chocolate syrup was made by the ice cream company but no, by the other one.
There’s a Hershey Park amusement park which may be a separate company, too. I don’t know if it was founded by a Hershey, though
Created in the 1930s, what fictional crimefighter named Clark made use of a Fortress of Solitude?
Obviously Doc Savage was one, who’s the other guy?
Too obvious to mention.
Doc Savage was The Man of Bronze. The other guy went a bit beyond.
This group was known for “A Night at the Opera” and “A Day at the Races”.
What fictional crime fighter had a secret criminal lair, was a master of disguise, and was named after a flying mammal?
The Marx Brothers & Queen
