"Trois Gymnopedies" as done by Blood Sweat and Tears

BST’s second album begins (and ends) with an interpretation of “Trois Gymnopedies”; both the first and last track are listed as such, or approximately so. After the first portion of the first track, however (at about 1:25), there is a minute-long piece played by the brass section—a very moving piece, touching on threnodic during a few portions.

I was wondering if any of you who know of what I speak knew who wrote this; was it Satie, or was it BST’s doing? Is there an intended significance as to this piece? Any other viable information as to this piece you might be able to share? Thanks loads.

I can’t answer your question, but recall the album from about early 1969. That was my first exposure to the Satie pieces that I was aware of. They have become favorites.

This site says it is arranged by Dick Halligan.
