Little language mistakes (like some of the uses of “female” described in this thread) bother me, but what bothers me a lot more is an insistence that somehow it’s wrong to talk about language. It’s totally fine to talk about language. It’s not the end of the world to make a little mistake… and it’s not the end of the world to talk about that, and talk about how language impacts broader society. It’s fine to talk about these kinds of things, and there’s nothing harmful about it.

Oh sure, but there’s no real contradiction between the ability to have a good-faith conversation about the meaning and impact of certain language conventions and the ability to point out when a certain usage has a pretty clear meaning among a certain breed of bottom-feeding scumsucker. Like, “cuck” is a word with a pretty rich etymology, but anyone calling you a cuck who isn’t aware of who’s fucking your wife is probably just a piece of shit. Similarly, people who use “female” in the place of “woman” when their grasp of english is quite solid tend to be misogynistic assholes.

Who did so because he was being chastised. All among other posters who are chastising both the OP and other people. The horror!
And you combine it with another shtick, where you don’t offer an actual counterargument. No, you just have to attack me as a bad person. Despite my saying multiple times that all this does is make me think I’m right and that you can’t rebut me, it keeps on happening. There’s this idea that I just don’t understand the world, but then no one can actually say what’s wrong.
Since pretty much everyone else, including the trolls, get actual rebuttals, I do sometimes wonder if people are trolling me by not giving me a counterargument. But then I read their other posts, and see that they aren’t usually dicks. So it’s likely just that our personalities and ways of thinking are different.
But I’m not going to change as long as what you are asking of me makes no fucking sense. If the problem was chastising people, you wouldn’t read so many posts chastising people, or agree with me when I chastise the right people. If the problem was that my chastisements are baseless, then you’d explain why.
As long as your behavior is inconsistent with the message you try to tell me, there’s nothing I can do to make you happy.
