Actual, serious question: you stated previously that your kids might see naughty language and you didn’t want to have to explain that type of word to them. Obviously you don’t want your kids saying naughty words, but are you ok with your kids using mental illness, developmental delays, other immutable group characteristics as insults? Is it “more ok” to to have to explain “well I’m calling this person autistic because I want to insult him, because being autistic is something to be ashamed of”?

You ask an interesting question and other than saying “it’s the pit, snowflake” what else should be answered? In a deterministic universe what properties of self are actually mutable? All sorts of insults are slung about that target immutable characteristics.
Calling someone dumb, or stupid, or anything that references their genetics is targeting something outside of that person’s control. Even insulting people’s behavior is targeting something outside of that person’s control to a large degree. Yet it seems to make the majority in the pit feel better about their own lives. That’s actually sad.

There are a number of ways that could have been answered. Like actually explain how you’d feel if you heard your kids calling people retards or autistic in order to make them feel bad, and contrast that with hearing them use curse words.
It is interesting to me that you sidestepped that entirely and tried to expand that to everything is immutable, even someone’s behavior is out of their control.
It sounds as if you would be more comfortable with your kids insulting someone’s mental health, developmental delays, race, sex, or similar than you would be hearing your child say fuck or shit. Or at least, only the foul language elicits a scolding.
