Trolls, socks and familiarity with the Board.

Obviously you care just as much because you went to the trouble of replying. In fact, you obviously care more.

Lousy sock-carer…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Caught red-handed.

Don’t you mean red-footed?

You know who else cared about socks? Hitler.

I would have thought Stalin (with the red feet and all)…

Well, I was once accused of being a sock (to be fair, in a high-drama sort of thread I created) because I referenced some posts that had been made before I joined. Posts which of course had been linked to over the last month in other, more recent threads, but you know, who’s keeping track  ?

And when the whole Liberal/ruber ruber thing blew up, I read back quite far on all those linked threads, which might mean I have a suspicious level of knowledge about the backstory. I can’t help it – I get into SD History, it’s like hearing stories from your elders about the war.

I guess when you have idiots rolling in all the time to make trouble, suspicion kind of becomes second nature to the mods and other posters. I myself would be a terrible judge of trollage/sockage because I trust people to a ridiculous degree to tell me the truth.

As for myself, I just try not to step on anyone’s toes. While I would like for people to not jump to conclusions so quickly here, I suppose as long as you try to be a reasonable human being, you won’t get banned.

Didn’t David Duchovney have that show, Red Socks Diaries?
Set in Boston, it was.

That’s quite endearing actually.

I lurked for several years before posting. It’s a bit bizarre, like suddenly walking onto the set of a long-running sitcom and becoming one of the characters. Who (reversing the tired “temporary amnesia” device) somehow knows everybody in the room intimately, even though nobody recognizes him.

Only much less interesting than that.

Good thing, too. Often when a character shows up out of nowhere, he gets killed halfway through the episode, leaving the regular cast to cope with their grief in tragicomic fashion.

Afterward, of course, the character is never mentioned again.

so you’re the second Darren?

I was thinking Mister Furley.

I know what you mean. That’s why I don’t think it’s necessarily shit-disturbing or evil to, oh I don’t know, have a webpage that disusses the little battles that have happened in SD history.

And then there’s the webpage where people run out of things to whine about and post shit like

With comments like:

That stuff is indeed boring. Of course, minus the specific names, that sounds like 80% of all forums out there. Take a stroll through LJ land, if you dare.

If you would do it without dehumanizing the people involved, it could actually be fun.

Good point. Better to use their actual names.

Oh good, cuz I’m pretty sure I didn’t. Unless you think anything uncomplimentary is “dehumanizing”, which of course would be silly.

Dragging people through shit so you can have a good laugh is barbaric in its conception. Maybe you haven’t done it personally — who can tell with all the anons? — but a crack dealer who brags that he doesn’t smoke the stuff himself is still a crackhead in my book. (A book which seems to have brought you side-splitting pleasure.)

Wasn’t **CarnalK ** referring to his actual website listing old train-wrecks?

I think you’ve jumbled that together with the other pit.
