ISTR reading in People magazine a few years back about a (then) 16-year-old boy who was so obsessed with the “cult” movie Trout Fishing in America that he changed his name to “Trout Fishing in America.” The article mentioned how shocked the state trooper was when he saw the boy’s driver’s license with the words “Trout America” in the name field.
A quick search at the imdb reveals a movie (a documentary) by the name Trout Fishing (no …in America) from 1932. So either the boy is obsessed with a nature documentary from the 30’s, or he’s obsessed with a movie that is so obscure, so “cult,” so under-the-radar that even imdb missed it.
Has anyone heard of/seen this movie? Is the boy obsessed with a nature documentary? Perhaps it has high camp value, like Reefer Madness does?
Wow. I thought this was going to be about a folk trio (duo?) that toured around Texas and the Southwest back in the 80’s. They played semi-regularly at the Waterworks in Waco back in the mid 80’s. I was unaware what they were named after.
Back in the 80s? I saw them this past summer in Allen, Texas. Sang all the songs we know from their CDs. They do two different sets of music, depending on whether they’re playing for adults or kids. There are two guys, Ezra, a tall, blond, guitar player, and Keith, a short bass player.
