Truck drivers. Well, one in particular.

Hold on, I think I misread what you wrote.

::reads::

Keys locked in car → Eleusis not in car → car in water, but not Eleusis. I think.

Forget the warning, I’m not quite awake yet. I need more sleep, or at least more coffee.

But at least you know where your keys are.

Right?

Right?

I think Bubba Harley, the 7-foot convict, has them. If asked nicely, maybe he’ll give them back.
Anyhoo, I also hate drunk/impaired drivers and if Spongemom wants to blow off steam by wishing vile torments on this ass-clown, more power to her.

not an “accident” at all, accidents are when something unavoidable happens. this dumbfuck was driving his rig while in no cindition to be doing anything other than sleeping it off. he deserves some serious prison time for this shit.

I had a friend who lost one leg and most of the use of the other in a similar situation, he died about 15 years later from the health effects he suffered after the “accident”

(some stupid cunt driving at 50+ in a snowstorm over a mountain pass inspite of the many road flares, she lost control and pinned him between a trailer and her bmw)

accident implies it wasnt anyones fault. this is bs, the vast majority of traffic accidents are infact one driver being a fucktard instead of driving like they should be. (as in every single rear end colission that happens on the freeway at low speeds…i.e. back the fuck off dumbshit.

Depends on what the drugs were, wouldn’t it? If they were a stimulant, like amphetamines, they might not have contributed to the accident. If they’re good enough for our fighter pilots…

That’s really fucking awful. I can’t stand to think about what it must be like to go through that. I hope the truck driver gets in a whole fucking lot of legal trouble. Driving when you’re that impaired is a terrible thing to do.

I doubt it, considering the guy is still alive.

The guy’s in jail for possession of drugs-- and effectively he’s wrecked a life as well, but probably woud only have lost his license for a period because of that. Doesn’t seem fair, really.

Hope your daddy recovers soon and does get to play that guitar again, Spongemom. He’s lucky he has you supporting him. Best wishes.

Eleusis - No hard feelings. I’d be satisfied if someone just chopped a couple of the trucker’s limbs off. As it is now, he’s gonna be in prison for quite some time, and my daddy knows some of the people he’s in there with. I don’t know about rape, but he’s definitely not gonna have a good time in there. That trucker’s gonna find out what happens to people who rip a Hell’s Angel to pieces by being a blithering idiot.

To all well-wishers - thank you very much.

The trucker’s company’s insurance is paying every bit of daddy’s hospital bills (over $200 thousand), and also paying to replace all three vehicles that were crushed under the semi - daddy’s truck, the 1958 Harley he had in the back of it for emergencies, and the car he was towing down here for me. So in the insurance department, the trucker is most definitely screwed.

Czarcasm - Daddy’s alive and doing quite well despite the missing limbs, so involuntary manslaughter…no. Wreckless endangerment, definitely. Driving under the influence, absolutely. Possession and possession with intent to sell, yup and yup. That rotten chunk of goat felching pimple pus won’t get out from under this mess for a long time.

But, being the kind of man he is, daddy’s dealing with it all rather well…

“Give me a peg leg and a hook, and someone find me an eyepatch, I’m going a-pirating when I get out,” and “Now I have a legitimate excuse for one-handed websurfing,” and " I know I needed to lose a few pounds, but on the whole I think I’d have preferred a diet," are just a few examples of his attitude toward the whole thing. His attitude is starting to rub off on me, but I still hold so much resentment toward that trucker that it makes my head hurt if I think about it for too long.

He told me he was gonna spank me if I didn’t cheer up about it…when I first heard the news, I blamed myself, because it was me that he was bringing that car to, and I thought that if I’d just said no, I don’t want it, he wouldn’t have been on the interstate at all. He found out about me saying that, and called me his first day home to tell me that I couldn’t have stopped him from bringing me that car at gunpoint. I’m getting close to convincing myself that no, I couldn’t have prevented the accident. It’s tough though.

It’ll slow him down, but it definitely won’t stop him. I just wish I was as strong as he is.

Spongemom If it helps this trucker’s wife is sending you all her good thoughts. It sounds like your daddy is quite a guy. Please know that most truckers hate guys like this fucknut. Not only does he give them a bad name but is a risk to them as well.

Sounds like quite a man. I’m glad the trucker’s insurance company is being decent about this. Does Daddy have a lawyer? Just to make sure his interests are fully protected, mind you, not to be vindictive or anything.

That’s what I get for skimming through the threads before I skip off to work in the morning :smack: I am glad that your dad survived, but still think that refering to what happened to him as an “accident” is a miscarraige of justice. You might want to find out if the trucker was over his limit for driving hours. If he was, his dispatcher almost had to know it-the current regulations on trucker’s hours are so tight right now that it is almost impossible for them not to know exactly how long he had been on the road. You will want to see his driver logbook(the original-not a copy], because it will tell you his routine for the whole month, and it is supposed to be accurate to at least the quarter hour. It will not only tell you how long he was on the road, but also how long and when he last rested, and when he had a meal.

Is there really that much difference between wishing rape on someone and wishing someone be dismembered?

I understand you’re upset–as you should be–about what’s happened to the man who’s like a father to you (who, btw, does sound like quite a cool guy), but nobody, not even prisoners, deserves to be the victim of another crime. The offending driver most likely will be punished because this particular wreck involved serious injury.

It does help, thanks.

I know most truckers are great people*. Just a few bad apples in the bunch. And one or two rotten shitbrains.
*One winked at me once. When I get passed by truckers on the highway, I know it’s a bitch to judge when the back of their trailor is past the front of my car, so I’ll flash my lights real quick to let them know it’s ok to move back over. A few months ago, one flashed his brake lights back at me. It felt neat.

Top notch.

Thanks.

I’m sure his lawyer knows this already, but some transport companies use automated logging systems to keep track of how long the driver is in service. He may want to subpoena those records if the company the trucker worked for uses one of those systems.

When and where did this accident happen?

On the interstate in Nebraska, August 1st. Why?

Nebraska’s a big state with miles of nothing stretching out on the I-80 and it can take some time to get help out to where you’re in trouble. If you can call any of it “lucky”, at least it sounds like he was close enough to a town to save his life. A lot of people don’t survive that kind of injury, especially when it takes two hours just to do the extrication.

Because an accident where a drug-impaired commercial driver caused a critical injury would be in the local news, and nobody seems to have heard anything about this. I checked back pretty far, too, before I saw you claimed this happened on August 1. Why are you lying?
