No episode this week because of the Superbowl, I assume?
Correct.
How silly is that? I could understand skipping tonight if tonight was the only airing, but it’s repeated all week.
They probably don’t want the ratings comparison.
Showtime doesn’t care, with Shameless, Episodes and House of Lies all showing new episodes tonight. HBO is running scared, though. Not only is there no new True Detectives at all this week, but Girls and Looking had an unprecedented Saturday night premiere for this week’s episodes.
Wikipedia, without fail, does a great job of listing episodes with air dates for every running show. I use it for occasions just like this.
That was a weird little jog in the timeline from where we left off, but I get it vis-à-vis the narrative being framed by the interviews with the two black detectives.
Those little glimpses into outlaw biker culture were infinitely better than entire seasons of Sons of Anarchy. I was at once struck by how literally sterile and safe the SoA clubhouse is compared to the den of smoke and hepatitis and random violence we saw here.
Unlike some TV shows or movies, there was nothing sexy about seeing the back room, so to speak…it was squalid and dangerous and I don’t want to be there.
Did you catch that the whole last sequence in the housing project was all done in one shot? That was remarkable and intense.
Yes. I’ve rarely seen a ghetto on TV that actually looked menacing like that.
Again the aerial shots are amazing - especially for TV.
It dawned on me about halfway through that long tracking shot that it was indeed a long-ass tracking shot, and it was awesome.
For someone who keeps insisting that Marty’s home life is “none of his business,” it sure is odd that Rust agreed to act as a go-between with Maggie. This is leading to something, but I don’t know what yet.
So happy to hear the great Lucinda Williams on the soundtrack.
Yeah, that confused me. What happened to Bigfoot guy?
So was Rust’s plan to kidnap the biker guy and force him to take them to LaDoux?
No, Rust’s plan was to make a side deal with biker guy (coke for meth) that would lead him to LeDoux, but the whole plan went off the rails and he decided to cut to the chase and beat it out of him.
When they showed those previews it was called “scenes from upcoming episodes of TD”, not “next week’s episode”.
Well, it wasn’t a preview, it was actually the last shot of the previous episode. Still, the story is progressing from that shot - they’re working on a way to get to the guy.
I agree with this, but I think part of the problem is that the shot was out-of-viewpoint…have we had any other shots like that?
So Bigfoot is Reggie LeDoux?
I keep wanting to call him Chris LeDoux (the singer).
Yes, presumably…he’s making meth in that boxcar.
I thought Rust said his plan was to snatch the biker guy and get him to reveal LeDoux’s location?
Interesting to watch Rust throw himself into the "off the books’ work… 4 years of undercover work living like that? haha…no wonder he smells colors and sees funny things sometime…ahh the good old days…
 well old Rust sure can hold his own with the heavy dudes…
I wasnt so sure about that opening scene in the jail cell, all the info we have been waiting for came spilling out in 5 minutes…including a Debil worshipping cult and LOTS of dead bodies, great killing too!!! I dunno…we shall see.
I really like all the actors in this series, sounds like they got some real locals too… like the grandpa of the second missing girl(crab fisherman), he might not even be an actor!!!
I never heard him say that… I thought once they discovered Ledoux was the sole meth provider to that biker gang, he was going to use the coke swap with the “Mexican cartel” to get close to him.
