Truly disgusting food item

I think there is something in them that some people taste very differently than the norm. At least this is what I have heard.

To me they are simply immature flavorless red bells. Tomato aspic on the other hand, makes me gag.

You can find them in California too, wherever there is enough of an ethnic population to warrant them. Not at Safeway but ethnic or speciality markets. Utah isn’t known for its diversity.

Tsk! Marmite is* lovely *stuff when spread thinly on hot buttered toast, covered with grated XO white cheddar, and put under a broiler until the cheese is lightly browned and bubbly! It’s good just plain, too, when spread thinly on a piece of white bread (but please, no Wonder!) as a snack.

Topped with an egg fried slowly in butter (or poached), it’s heavenly!

I lived in Great Britain for over a year, and found Marmite to be a vital staple! :o

Pasta served with squid in sue tinte is also magnifico! Just sauté the cooked macaroni in a little EVOO and chopped garlic before stirring in the seafood.

Mofongo is god’s gift. Yucca, potato, cassava, plantain–bring it on! I actually just planned a stop in Puerto Rico so I could have a mofongo lunch. YUM.

Mine too…now…thaaaaaks paaaaaaaaal

I think I mentioned elsewhere that I once brought a can of meatballs in gravy, made by a Danish company (Dak, I think), from a Russian kiosk on my way to work. They were so gross, I couldn’t eat them, so I gave them to the studio cat.

He wouldn’t eat them either. :frowning:
