Perhaps Trump was speaking colloquially when he said Obama was tapping Trump Tower. Instead he should have said Obama’s political appointees were surveilling his people. This was a tweet, right? So he’s guilty of tweeting in Clickbait Headline Form.

The correct fact, the tip-off, is that the feds were surveilling Trump Tower. That, it turns out, was quite true. It was the rest, the politically salient parts, that were false. But that doesn’t prevent the true part from obstructing justice.

These types of tip-offs usually occur on twitter? Next time Trump needs to slide in the DMs.

1. He didn’t mean Obama, he meant the FBI
2. He didn’t mean Trump Tower, he meant a guy who apparently was not under surveillance during the three months be worked for Trump.
3. He didn’t mean “just before victory,” he meant in 2015 and for some time after the victory.
4. He didn’t mean McCarthyism/worse than Nixon, he meant “part of a lawful criminal investigation into a shady figure.”

At what point does colloquialism equal bullshit?
