Trump admits to making it up

Why would you keep in touch with something you absolutely don’t care about?

This is the kind of mind that makes up its own reality. What happens outside his head is irrelevant, and if it disagrees with his head canon, that’s reality’s fault, not his.

Adam Savage was quite prophetic.

Which is also something we see in his most ardent supporters around here.

I keep hoping this presidency is all an elaborate performance art piece.

Trump’s remarks fit the very definition of bullshit:

There’s a couple of other types, which also fit Trump.

[ul]
[li]A guy who says things without regard for whether anyone is persuaded but because it makes him feel good to say them.[/li][li]A guy who says things because he thinks his target audience already believes those things and will react positively to his saying them.[/li][/ul]

The only thing about this that surprised me was that Trump admitted it, presumably because he was proud of it.

Look, whenever Trump is unscripted in front of an audience, he says whatever comes to mind that the audience will like.

It’s not a matter of truth; it’s a matter of making the people in front of him cheer. The he goes and does whatever he pleases.

There are numerous examples of this. It’s what got him elected.

Did anyone think anything Trump ever said was anything but made up?

Trump is a master salesman, deal maker, and bullshitter. Perfect material for a new politician.

Nearly all the salesman I’ve dealt with are just like him. You want a shower after leaving that used car lot.

I am surprised Trump admits his bs.

I’m not sure how much of a “master” salesman or “bullshitter” anybody can be if you feel the need to shower after talking to them.

The best salesmen I’ve ever met have left people come back and begging for more rather than feeling dirty about themselves - you can shear a sheep multiple times but skin it only once.

I don’t suppose that the ‘master salesman’ will have realised that he has handed a big negotiating advantage to Justin Trudeau in any future conversations they have. Trudeau will now be able to dismiss any ‘fact’ that Trump tries to use. Even if that fact is actually true. What’s more, this applies even if the previous conversation never happened!

Trump would have been a used car salesman, but he didn’t meet their ethical standards.

Oh, it’s not that he didn’t meet the ‘ethical standards’ of used car salesmen—if anything, they’re quite impressed at his ability to continue lying long past the point that his original lies have been obviously and factually disproven—but that he just doesn’t have the grip to pull off that confident introductory handshake. In fact, he is so fearful he won’t even shake hands with a small, middle-aged German woman. Who is going to buy a ‘slightly used, low mileage, very reliable Pontiac Aztek” from that guy?

Hi APB, off-topic: I’ve got a favour I’d like to ask you, non-Board related, which I think fits your area of expertise. I see you don’t have PM or e-mail addresses listed, but if you would drop me a line at northern.piper@gmail.com I’d really appreciate it!
