I won’t link it here but the video shows a perfect shot in the carotid - whoever shot him (and they apparently have a suspect in custody) knew what they were doing. No way he survived that.

Shooter is an old white guy. Best case scenario is MAGA infighting or Epstein conspiracy. Then generic crazy.

Probably not, or at least spent enough time to make sure it was sighted in (or just got really lucky). I am somewhat morbidly curious what kind of weapon was used. Mostly because it seems most of the time these sorts of attempts have been made using something like an AR-15 pattern in .223 when I would think something like a deer rifle in 30-06 or .308 would be more likely to accomplish what the shooter wants in a single shot. Which is likely all he’ll get if he’s trying to snipe.
I can’t stand Charlie Kirk. He also didn’t deserve to get sniped. And now everything in the country is going to get just that much worse as the reactions occur.
Yeah–the last major shooting of a fascist leader was quickly followed by Musk pouring hundreds of millions into Trump’s campaign and getting the fascist elected. Anyone who thinks assassination of a couple of fascists is going to be helpful has lost the thread.
Actually, I’m questioning anything we’re seeing right now. I mentioned above one report that the shooter was 200 yards away in a building, and I’m also seeing a reporter on site said it came from an older white guy in the audience. I think the news will be chaotic for a few hours.
Agreed. I don’t give a shit if Kirk got offed in the abstract but the downstream consequences and crackdown is not going to be helpful.

Yeah, same. Kirk was (hopefully was) an absolute trash human and absent any other context I’m glad he’s (apparently) dead. However, given the political climate, there’s a meaningful chance this is the tipping point for net-negative consequences.

Worst-case scenario is that it is a liberal professor, and, unfortunately, old white guys on college campusses are overwhelmingly liberal professors. This administration had already pretty much declared war on academia, with Kirk as their surrogate. Turning him into a martyr is going to turbo-charge that. I expect whatever acts of destruction they were already plotting will unfold over days and not months.
Though possibly less true in Utah.
