They are likely imagining their opponents/rivals doing that to them, since it’s what they’d do given the chance.
Ugh, a depth of fascism I hadn’t even considered. False confessions. “I shot Charlie because I’m trans” just to escape the death penalty doesn’t seem far fetched. Dammit.
Axios says that they have six sources that confirm that Robinson had a romantic relationship with his roommate, who was indeed trans, and also that this person is cooperating with the FBI to identify Robinson’s motive.
It’s looking more and more like it might be true.

Other sources still put the weasel “may” to the lines, in other sources the typical report is: “The relative, however, declined to speculate about a romantic relationship between the two.”
A lot of the inflammatory “sources” come from unnamed FBI sources and the homophobic governor of Utah.

The Governor of Utah confirmed this on Meet the Press and it is reported in the NYT. So yeah, we are well and truly fucked. The right wing death squads will be out soon hunting anyone who posted about the killing in any way that isn’t judged appropriately sorrowful.

That is still what the Governor claims, the NYT report is just repeating what the governor said. other independent sources are not so sure still.

So far in other news, I did see that relatives and others could not confirm the relationship.
Basically, so far, it is mostly hearsay. even that news bit I’m citing here shows how self feeding this is, the main source is the Governor too, who is not being detailed about how he knows that, it looks more that he is relying on Fox news that in their interviews it looks as if they are making very leading questions to friends and relatives to get the hearsay.

Sounds to me like the Utah governor would fit in nicely in Trump’s cabinet. Heck, he might even step in to run the FBI when Patel cashes out.
I think it’s pretty unlikely he is just making things up. Axios reported 6 different sources. Not 100%, but we’ll find out in the next week I’m sure.
