He believed in what he did and was good at it. It is a legitimate and respected form of political activism using different platforms and deliveries. So much so that many in the left want to emulate it. Receiving financial compensation, if your numbers are to be trusted, isn’t a moral indictment or character flaw.

Well, I do see I participated in that thread so, if he did too, it’s possible, but it’s not like I keep a list. FWIW, while some posters do end up on ignore because I have had enough/too many frustrating exchanges with them, the vast majority are people that I have ignored just because I see from how they respond to other people that they are worthless, low down, no good, cowardly trolls, racists, homophobes, xenophobes, and/or transphobes who are manifestly not worth my time to even read let alone reply to. Charlie didn’t give anything to Turning Point USA, he was an employee. TPU sucks about $85million out of the economy and gives just under $400,000 to Charlie in salary and benefits annually.
Charlie was smart about formal debate and he had a library of one liners and put downs for set situations. His performance was a vaudeville act that involved some of the audience on stage. It was a good act and it paid well. Nothing wrong there. Kinda like Jerry Lewis making $1500 a week as a bus boy at Grossingers. He had a skilled act and he knew his audience. Nothing wrong there. Same with Charlie.
The problem is when you move to the combination of politics and religion. Legitimate corporate religions publish their creeds and forms of worship. They generally maintain some distance between themselves and the government. At least a distance that is recognized by tradition. Charlies act has no published creed. You do not know what, if anything, he stands for. He is just a flippant performer feeding the audience of the day. Whatever pays.
Can you tell me what he believed in terms of a consistent creed? Can you tell me what Conservative stands for? If Turning Point is successful in penetrating education, what will they teach our children?
