Trump associates may have coordinated with Russians, according to US officials

Just apt natural.

Good one.

Look at the contrast with the photos and video of Trump and Putin at the G20 meeting in Germany a year ago: Putin mirrors Trump’s posture and keeps his head down: shy Vlad, so impressed by Trump!

Now look at today's meeting, in which the two are posed in similar chairs. Now Putin sits back on his throne, cool and indifferent, while Trump continually glances at him as if for approval:

Clearly in their private meeting, Putin laid down the law to his minion. Possibly he gave an ultimatum: ‘sanctions must be gone within 30 days or we reveal all our material on you’. In any case, Trump is clearly cowed, and Putin sees no reason to continue to flatter Trump.

More detail about Butina:

I’ll give a non-zero chance that Trump decides to extend his stay in Russia. I think Putin is trying to get everything out of the US presidency as he can before Mueller closes the noose, and that may be close enough now that putting Trump into asylum and letting the US spin might be the final blow.

The question is: Would Pence go to war with Russia? If not, then fuck the US. Take Trump hostage and laugh all the way to the bank.

I’m not saying that’s likely, just that it’s more likely than should even be conceivable.

That’s a pretty bold prediction, eh.

Man, Trump looks like a beaten dog.

Trump can’t be a Russian agent because a Russian agent would have acted less like a Russian agent than Trump did today.

Really bold, given that he’s not in Russia. Helsinki is in Finland.

Home of the famous “Stockholm syndrome.”

Ah yes, good point.

Could always decide to leave with Putin though.

Why should he start being good at something now?

You misspelled “cuck”

Cuck Donald need to take off. That’s close to the perfect insult to goad his deplorables.

The GOP is now the party of Putin.

The question is, is there at least a handful of Howard Bakers in the party? Is there even one Howard Baker?

McCain called the meeting a disgrace and Flake said similar things, but guess what? They’re both irrelevant, and everyone knows it. The real mortal threat to American democracy isn’t that just that the president has betrayed his country; it’s that the Constitutional guardrails against such betrayal no longer exist.

It is now up to the American voter.

Well, thank you, Mr Sunshine!

Can we call him Fiver yet?

Asahi, I love your posts, but sometimes after reading them I start to search for small apartments in Calgary.

I’ve watched enough hockey to know that the emphasis is on the second syllable. It’s cal-GARY. Also, “organization” is pronounced with a long eye, like or-gan-EYE-zation. I’m practicing.

Thing is, McCain, Flake, and Corker (and some others if they wanted) could flip tomorrow to caucus with the Senate Democrats and flip control of the Senate. Not enough to do much other than shut everything down for a few months, but it’d be more than they’re currently doing which is definitely nothing. But they’re not going to and we all know it.
