Trump associates may have coordinated with Russians, according to US officials

If I have information that is vital to my fellow citizens, and it is against the law to reveal it, I can only hope to have the courage to let it be known, and stand before whatever jury is called. There is more than one way to fight for one’s country, and it doesn’t invariably call for blowing somebody’s head off.

Sorry, he’s been…uh…‘disappeared.’

32% of Republicans don’t believe Donald Trump Jr met with any Russians. A further 24% “aren’t sure” and only 45% believe that he did… The mind boggles.

How is civic democracy meant to function when this large of a chunk of the country can’t even accept facts that were tweeted by the man himself? Is there any standard of proof possible that gets people onto the same page about basic facts?

Yep. At the same time, we’re talking about allegations from the discredited Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin Nunes, who served on Trump’s transition team (he’s very proud of that!) and had to step aside from the Russia investigation because of a nakedly partisan agenda. So, grain of salt and all that.

So, no actual answer then? Just deflection?

Answer to what? It was a in public, at a dinner that was attended by all of G20 leaders, in view of everyone there, including a bunch of press photographers. Oh no Trump talked to Putin for a while at a dinner table! Hang him! Traitor!!!11!!!

What stupidity.

I wouldn’t be surprised if wily ol’ Vlad secretly recorded the private meeting. For further blackmail purposes, of course…

And, of course, you know this for a fact, unlike the rest of the world except for three people (and possibly a few privileged people in the Kremlin).

What a joke.

I know what for a fact - that the meeting was in public at dinner? Yes, I do. Apparently you didn’t.

That nothing untoward went on. Please try to get the implication of a statement instead of parsing it for legality.

No, I don’t. Neither do you. Neither do you know that nothing untoward went on when Obama was talking to Medvedev.

Oh you do know. Because a hot mic caught it. But notice - no one other than Obama there from the US side. Did that bother you?

It was stupid of Trump to meet like this. With all the controversy surrounding his links to Russia, this fits exactly the narrative that he’s colluding with Russia and that he’s Putin’s pawn (notice who went over to whom?). There’s nothing inherently wrong with two world leaders talking to each other at G20, but actions like this just reinforce the controversy. If it’s just friendly chat, why not talk to one of the other 18 leaders that were at the dinner? By talking to Putin specifically in the midst of the controversy, it makes it look like he had some important reason to talk to Putin specifically. Or he was incompetent.

Nefarious, stupid, or he just doesn’t care.

When was Obama accused of being Medvedev’s pawn?

Yes, because being accused is everything. Especially if it comes from the deranged opposition.

I love the “met secretly with Putin” part. Yes, “secretly”. In view of all G20 leaders, their wives and press photographers. But “secretly”.

Stupidity squared.

That is not a “yes” or “no” question.

What part of “the informal meeting included just Trump, Putin and Putin’s interpreter” means “the informal meating included Trump, Putin, Putin’s interpreter, all G20 leaders, their wives and press photographers”?

You’re not seriously trying to dispute that Putin owns Trump, are you?

It was at a dinner table, attended by all G20 leaders, their wives, and a gaggle of press photographers. Are you not aware of that? How in the world can that be characterized as a “secret meeting” by anyone other than a Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferer?
