Sometimes I shake my head when I see people building up Trump like he’s a super villain. Hasn’t he been in the spotlight long enough for you everyone to understand what he is about? His form of evil is boring and skin deep. He’s paranoid, arrogant and lazy. Any of those three things would keep him from hatching a plot. Besides he’s certain he’s going to win.

The thing is, do I think Trump is perfectly capable of (badly) faking an assassination attempt to get ahead? Yes, in some meeting room where all the people there are sworn to him and will back up the story. I do not at all think this was faked, of course.
He did have the adrenaline surge to stand there and try and keep talking and say fight and such. Lot of people wouldnt have done that.
But yeah…I’ll bet now that the dust has settled and his aides are saying “Dude! Make that UFC appearance you were going to make tonight! Give the same speech Teddy Roosevelt did!”
He’s saying “I don’t think i can stop shaking.”

One witness - Greg - told the BBC that he had spotted a suspicious-looking person “bear crawling” on the roof of the building about five minutes before Trump took to the stage. He said he pointed the person out to police.
“He had a rifle, we could clearly see him with a rifle,” he said. “We’re pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground – we’re like ‘hey man there’s a guy on the roof with a rifle’ and the police did not know what was going on.”

That’s not really that surprising though. There were several snipers, Secret Service snipers, on roofs in the area and the local police might not be appraised of where they are, for OPSEC if nothing else. Those Secret Service snipers are supposed to be watching the roofs and distinguishing friend from foe, not local cops on the ground, though you would at least hope the info would be passed up the chain.
WTF? A gun gets into a rally, witnesses see a man with a rifle on a rooftop… Couldn’t be a hoax since SS killed the shooter (and others, injuries) Someone really fucked up in security.

Patience, grasshopper. It takes awhile after these sorts of things for events to become clear. Days, even weeks. Sometimes months or years.
If we want (a) new AND (b) good info, we may just have to wait for at least tomorrow and then it will be only slightly so.
I wonder if some of the pops we heard were the secret service returning fire. He wasn’t down very long before someone said the risk was neutralized.
