I grew up in Union Township, PA just across the county line from Bethel Park.
Bethel Park abuts wealthy suburbs, particularly Peters Township, Upper St. Clair and Mount Lebanon but isn’t very wealthy itself. It has lots of smaller tract suburban development with little infill and a number of older apartment complexes.
And perhaps even more relevant, kinetic energy equals 1/2 mass times velocity squared.

Pure speculation: He shows up with two options. First option is to try to get on the roof with the gun. If that doesn’t work for whatever reason, go back to the car and attempt to plow into the crowd as a suicide bomber.

I keep going wobbly when I think what the world would have seen had Trump taken that bullet right to the face. I’m not talking about politics, I’m just talking about the disgusting carnage that would be splashed all over every web site on the planet from twelve different angles. It shakes me.
Biden will address the nation from the Oval Office at 8pm Eastern.
He had a brief conversation with Trump. He has ordered an independent investigation of why the lapses happened and beefed up security for the GOP convention.
Is it a certainty that it was a bullet that hit trump’s ear? It makes more sense that trump was hit with a piece of plexiglass from the shattered teleprompter. Any thoughts from the marksmen here?
Not unreasonable—except for law enforcement (whether local or Secret Service) failing to IMMEDIATELY remove a person from that rooftop, once he’d been seen. Whether or not a firearm was visible should not have changed the need for immediate removal. (My bolding in the quote.)
There’s just no way to excuse that failure.
This investigation had better be thorough and fully transparent.

The teleprompters seem to be intact. But I’m not sure if it really matters a whole lot if it was a bullet or broken glass which got him.
My concern would be that Mr. and Mrs. low-info voter see the pic of trump with his fist raised as the SS surrounds him and think “oh, he’s so brave” and decide to vote for him. Enough of them to move the needle, at least.
They do have to rule out participation by any person other than the roof-top shooter. So every fragment (glass or metal or what) flying through the air, and the timing of the launching of those fragments, has to be nailed down.

Surprising development if confirmed to be true:

Obviously fundraising in the wake of something like this would be intensely tacky. Biden certainly hit the pause button. Of course, Trump has previously demonstrated zero shame or sense of taste when there’s advantage to be won or money to be made, no matter who’s trying to convince him.
But apparently this time someone caught his ear.
