There is a recent CBS News piece on the subject that says, essentially, the we still do not know.
His family (parents) are diligently private, avoiding neighbors and media. He himself kept his tracks covered and is difficult to suss. He was focused on getting straight As in school and very antisocial, possibly pushing the upper middle of autism spectrum.
Toward the end, there were reports of strange, erratic physical movements and other things that could hint at something akin to schizophrenia. My sense is that his academic focus combined with his near total lack of real-world socialization caused his mind to slide sideways and he used his mental acuity to work toward carrying off the shooting. He had a weird dichotomy of derangement and utter clarity.
But he failed, and he is dead, so the whole issue is moot – apart from the fact that Felon-ONE has made good use of the incident.
Very interesting–thank you.
The other would-be assassin from last year–the one who hid on a golf course–seemed upset that Donald wasn’t right-wing enough. Maybe that was a factor for the Butler shooter, too.
He wants to represent himself in court…should be interesting.
They say that he who represents himself in court has a genuine nut job for a client. I think it was Lincoln who said that.
After, obviously. That’s how we know it’s true.
tl;dr - variations of the saying were in use since at least 1682. No record found by QI that Lincoln ever even used the phrase.
Aside from the “fool for a client” aspect, I wonder if this might make it harder for Trumpites to call for the guy to be executed. (Which I believe is an opinion fairly widespread in MAGA-land).
On the other hand: at the speed with which Donald is getting rid of the rule of law, they might dispense with a trial and have the guy drawn and quartered right on the White House lawn. That would certainly quiet the talk about Epstein for an hour or two!
Put him in the UFC fight!
