I think the way people here, where all sorts of conspiracy theories have been roundly and soundly mocked, grasp at straws shows how bad this is. Trump has been playing the martyr card for ages, now actually having a wound to show for it? Getting to raise his fist in defiance after the failed attempt of them—and who ‘they’ really are is sure to change based on need—on his life? Having actual violence to point to when he further riles up his base against accepting any future setbacks? I can’t imagine any worse place to be in right now.

To me it sounded more like clicking than shots. Not sure what that means, if anything. It’s really too bad this happened. This timeline is crap.

Gunshots from a distance are always off sounding.
I’ve heard people describe a pinging or clicking sound when they hear it from a distance. In person.
Also, your sound on your device can corrupt the sound.
Unless it is a direct quote, it is worse than useless.
