trump is a man who lives in trumpworld- that is, complete denial- he will blame everyone else but himself for the loss
Yea, its not like his career has been an unbroken string of success until now. The idea that losing the Prez campaign is going to drive him over the edge is kinda weird. He obviously is pretty good at spinning his public failures, both in his own mind and to his fans.
He’ll blame a loss on the dirty tricks of Hillary, or the GOP estalishement , or say his loss was part of his grander master-plan, or that the Mexicans/Chinese sabatoged his race, or that he was too un-PC to win. Or more likely, cycle through all those excuses over the course of any given week.
I’m sure he could cycle through all of those excuses in the course of a single speech, maybe even in a single stream-of-consciousness run-on sentence.
Maybe he’ll turn it around. Sarah Palin has got the perfect advice for choosing a running mate:
Irony, Thou Art An Ingracious Bee-yotch.
This exactly! It can’t be that hard to recall 2012 when ALL of the news outlets (not just F-X) were claiming, “Too close to call!”
All news organizations have a vested interest in keeping its viewers, listeners, or readers tuned in. They know that the election cycle can be predictable (in terms of consumption, at least), as long as no one lets the cat out of the bag. As soon as someone says, “We cannot ignore the polls anymore. There is no doubting that Candidate X will win this year’s Presidential Election,” their numbers are going to drop, just like they would have when the election was finally over. But until it is finally over, they want to have their customers to continue watching, instead of turning over to Survivor.
Election season is the same to news organizations as Christmas is to retailers, and they won’t let the news die until the last “Ho, ho, ho!”
This is one of those satire news websites, right? They won’t fool me again.

Someone needs to test her for early onset dementia.

It’s a satire election. The entire country is wired with little cameras, and this reality show is being beamed to the aliens of Quintax IV.

Someone needs to test her for early onset dementia.
For dementia to set in would imply there was something to lose.

Maybe he’ll turn it around. Sarah Palin has got the perfect advice for choosing a running mate:
We are also reminded that Palin recently endorsed him with these fine words whose lyrical beauty will doubtless be immortalized in history:
“Trump’s candidacy has exposed, not just that tragic — that ramifications of the betrayal of a transformation of our country, but, too, he has exposed the complicity on both sides of the aisle that has enabled it, OK?”
Given this passionate support, I think Sarah Palin should be put in charge of Trump’s VP search committee. I’m sure that her usual selfless dedication to the task will turn up an excellent candidate, perhaps one who has been a VP candidate before and enjoyed it quite a lot.
I may have missed it but I have not seen the possibility of a floor fight at the republican convention being discussed yet.
Yes, Trump seems to have the nomination locked up but maybe not. Since he has been sinking so fast in the polls and many finally seeing the ill effects of the severe case of foot-in-mouth disease Trump suffers from there seems to be a serious case of buyer’s remorse moving among republicans.
As such there looks to be a serious effort to free the delegates at the republican convention (meaning they are not bound to vote for the candidate who won in the first vote but can rather vote for anybody).
There’ll be hell to pay if they do this but the powers-that-be may deem this a better choice than being out in the cold for eight more years.
As Republicans move closer to their convention in Cleveland next month, a growing faction of delegates is campaigning to block Donald Trump from securing the presidential nomination.
The multi-pronged effort — which includes outreach to individual attendees, national television ads and even a lawsuit — aims at a long-shot goal. They want to allow the 2,472 delegates to vote for whomever they choose instead of casting ballots according to the results of the state primaries and caucuses, in which Trump won the most votes in a crowded field of contenders.
Backers of the block-Trump efforts say such extraordinary measures are necessary in light of Trump’s declining poll numbers, anemic fundraising and penchant for inflammatory rhetoric, all of which, they say, leads to self-inflicted cycles of negative news stories.

A floor fight might work…if there were one clearly-outstanding alternative.
There ain’t. There is no “man on a white horse.” You have the same ten (or so) bozos that Trump whipped. No single one of them has the “Presidential timber” needed for a successful coup of this sort.
A Bloomberg/Cruz ticket might be acceptable to enough people to make it a race.
Before I get jumped on, note I qualified the above twice.
Proposed: That the best outcome for the Dems would be a GOP convention battle royal to replace Trump that left him still the nominee but bloodied and crippled by the fight, with the party a smoking heap of wreckage and survivors fleeing in all directions.
Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?

In the long run, the best option for the dems (at least progressives) is a Trump victory in 2016. Let him fuck things up, be president over a major recession, show he is nothing but an empty suit.
Then when 2020 rolls around the dems and progressives will have massive momentum. Lots of state legislatures as well as the federal legislature and white house will go dem. The dems can reverse the gerrymandering the GOP did after 2010.

The problem with this scenario is that the American public is remarkably inept at connecting a President’s actions with the consequences, especially when it takes some time to recognize exactly what those consequences are.
For example, President Clinton produced the last federal surplus by eliminating the deficit and and paying down the national debt. He also oversaw a booming economy in the 1990s. He got very little credit for any of this at the time, and his would-be successor (Al Gore) couldn’t even get elected in 2000.
His successor, President George W. Bush, took steps which reversed the nation’s fiscal position, from one of exceptional surpluses to one of exceptional deficits, and managed to do this during a booming economy. As he turned over the Presidency to his successor, President Obama, the economy was sliding into recession.
President Obama took actions to prevent the recession from turning into another Great Depression, but was often blamed for the bad economy he inherited and castigated for driving up the national debt by those who are ignorant of the fact that government needs to be able to borrow and spend to revive a failing economy. Again, he does not seem to have gotten much credit for these actions by much of the American public.
You know, the “Let the other side win, then we can blame them when bad things happen!” is one of the silliest strategies I’ve ever heard.
The point of running for elective office is not to avoid blame when things go bad. It’s to accomplish policy objectives. If you just want to avoid blame then never run for office, and you’ll never get blamed. Nobody blames me for the mess in Washington, because me and my political party that I invented have ever sought political office or appeared in the news or done anything, really.
If you want to turn around the mess the Republicans have made the sooner you start the easier it will be. Waiting for it to get worse doesn’t make it easier.
Seriously.
Wanting your country and fellow humans to be worse off, even temporarily, is contemptible just by itself.

In the long run, the best option for the dems (at least progressives) is a Trump victory in 2016. Let him fuck things up…
I often think this, in a weak moment…
But are you willing to have your country screwed over, with long-term consequences, just for a political “win”? Doesn’t that sound like the party that’d be willing do nothing or even to shut down the government just to score points?
I’d love to watch “Prez Donald” fail royally (pun intended), but then I think about the women and gays and muslims (and Canadians and Vegans and Game of Thrones fans and people who buy Mexican Coca-Cola…) and other average Americans that’d be hurt in the meantime.
