His enormous ego and pathological insecurity will not allow him to accept this. Denial in the form of claiming “a vast global conspiracy” and “a rigged election” is essential for this lunatic to maintain what remains of his semblance of mental stability.
This says everything we need to know about Trump, which all the other evidence consistently bears out: Trump is absolutely only about Trump with a totally ruthless disregard for anything and everything else. He is willing to suggest to his fellow citizens, and announce to the world, that the US federal election system is “rigged” and controlled by a secret cabal, and is happy to undermine the credibility of American democracy and promote the possibility of violence by his gun-totin’ acolytes – all to protect his fragile insecurities. Because in Trump’s world, Trump either wins or is unfairly cheated; he can never lose, and he’s completely content to throw his whole country under the bus to support this fantastical fiction.
I suspect that this absolutely unprecedented phenomenon will be analyzed, politically and sociologically, for decades to come.
