Trump speech live 01/08/2019: follow-along thread.

This is false.

Well, you ain’t gonna get it.

Trump is already talking about passing the buck, giving money to Texas so we can build the wall.

Problem is, we’re not going to build it. But we’ll take the money - we’re a Red state after all!

Trump said he was going to build a wall across the entire southern border, not just 234 miles.

Trump said Mexico would pay for it.

Trump said he would pass the CR bills.

Trump said he would get rid of the ACA.

Who are the idiots who keep believing this fool?

The $5.7B request is for 234 miles, not a backscratcher, and not “across the entire southern border”. It is false to claim that “It’s not quite clear. Nobody has made any clear plan…”

There are no clear plans. There are ideas, HD, but no plans.

Oh look, a white house press briefing from a week after the start of the shutdown. That’s cute. And even it can’t get its story straight!

I campaigned on Border Security, which you cannot have without a strong and powerful Wall. Our Southern Border has long been an “Open Wound,” where drugs, criminals (including human traffickers) and illegals would pour into our Country.

Y’know, that same wall he’s been banging on about for three goddamn years? Need I refer you to that Slate article again? Here’s the title, in case you’ve forgotten: “New GOP Thing Is to Pretend No One Is Talking About a Wall Except Democrats, as if We Are All Idiots With No Memory”.

Which makes me wonder - have you actually been paying attention to this issue before now, or is this the first you’ve heard of “Wall”? If so, here’s a primer:

One possible reason is that it has been what President Donald Trump and the people around him have been talking about constantly for the past three years. “DHS is committed to building wall and building wall quickly,” the Department of Homeland Security recently wrote on its website. “I would ask for wall. We need wall,” said DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in an appearance before Congress. “The wall will get built,” Trump said in the Dec. 11 Oval Office meeting with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer during which he promised to shut down the government unless Congress authorized wall funding. “It’s not a fence, it’s a wall. We’re going to build a wall,” he said in 2017. “Maybe someday they’ll call it the Trump Wall,” he said in 2015. “A nice powerful wall” is needed urgently to prevent the entry into the U.S. of refugees from Central America, Trump said Thursday morning.
Here is a transcript on the White House’s own website from a Wednesday event at which the president explained that when he talks about a wall, he is expressly talking about a physical wall and not “a multi-faceted approach to border security”:
Look, we can all play games, but a wall is a necessity. All of the other things — the sensors and the drones — it’s all wonderful to have and it works well, but only if you have the wall. If you don’t have the wall, it doesn’t matter. A drone isn’t stopping a thousand people from running through.
And here’s another primer from the Texas Observer: Trump’s Border Wall is a Vortex of Stupidity that Trump and the GOP Can’t Escape

The Wall started as an applause line at President Donald Trump’s campaign rallies. It was an effective rhetorical tool not because it made any degree of practical sense, but because it was a symbol of Trump’s showy commitment to a hard line on immigration. The wall was emphatically not like the vehicle barriers and fences that already dot the U.S.-Mexico border, which Trump surely did not know existed at the time. The Wall would be built coast to coast, it would be beautiful — maybe as high as 40 feet — and it would be fully paid for by Mexico, making it a double humiliation for the “enemy.” It was clear from the beginning that it was a simple expression of racial resentment.

[…]

The heaviest-traveled sections of the border already have fencing. If the president simply wanted to bolster those, he wouldn’t have needed to fight anybody. For better or worse, those barriers have been expanded by Democrats and Republicans over the years, and are uncontroversial in Congress. Indeed, Congress provided additional funding for that system of fencing in Trump’s first term — construction in South Texas is slated to begin in February.

But please, by all means, let’s trust a serial liar’s press release a week after everyone figured out this issue was going to be a loser for him and he had to run damage control. That sounds reasonable! Especially if it runs contrary to everything we know about the issue. And hey, maybe this dishonest spin will get Trump to shut up about the fucking stupid, useless, unworkable wall! Wouldn’t that be nice?

Area man questioning wisdom of self-impoverishment so he can get his hate on.

He plans to eventually wall off the entire border. This is just for starters.
Why should there be a single penny from government coffers? He promised Mexico would pay for it. There’s video of him saying they would make a single, lump sum payment.
Why do you believe a single word the Orange Turd says when it’s proven he lies every time he opens his mouth?

Why do you believe the wall is even needed? The vast majority of drugs come in through ports of entry in vehicles, not by people running across the desert.
There are not thousands of terrorists pouring across the border.

Did you forget the link for the wall plans? All I saw was a bullshit press release.

I see that HurricaneDitka is peddling his unique form of gaslighting in a new thread now.

No. The press release outlines the plan enough for us to know that it’s not for a backscratcher.

“Local man convinced press release is an engineering schematic.”

We don’t need an engineering schematic to know that it’s not for a backscratcher.

Why do you believe him?
Forget why you support him-Why do you believe him?

Oh yeah? Turn around, lean back and rub up and down. it’s a backscratcher.

Oh, noes! The Freedom Caucus says “Shut the fuck up, Donny! There’s no national emergency, you goddamned idiot, and you’d better not declare one! (But if you do, we’ll probably support you because we’re still evil fucks.)”

OG NEED WALL

Other cavemen come to take Og women!

Well, for starters, here’s an accounting of what DHS did with some previous money:

I suspect they’d do likewise with the additional $5.7B, and not buy an Oval Office backscratcher with it.

What’s your concern on this point? That the Dems will give him the money and President Trump will just burn it lighting cigars or something? You don’t think it will actually go towards building new fencing?

No, for starters, STOP.

STOP.

All you are doing is embarrassing yourself and wasting our time. Your arguments have been shown to be completely horse hockey time and again, and you keep making the same arguments over and over.
