I do, the ones who reached the conclusion on their own are much more likely to be anybody-but-me-phobic and are a lot less likely to be swayed back. The ones who are easily swayed… well, they’re easily swayed in any direction. They’re easily taken by anybody. They’re as likely to buy racism as crystal pyramids or the theology of prosperity. As obnoxious as many of them are, they are also walking through life with a big target painted on their faces.

Ok, but they’re all still terrible people.

The post to which I was responding insisted that they’re really good people. My point was that if they’re willing to follow orders and embrace bigotry because a con man noticed their bullseye birthmark, then they’re not fundamentally good people.

Being an easily led moron doesn’t absolve them for their willingness to join a hate cult.

Well, it’s good start in recognizing motivations are varied and not simplistic. This is a surprising contrast to the typical simple minded analysis of motives presented on this board.
