What are you talking about? Trump won that debate bigly. Everybody on Twitter tells him so. He won that debate just like he’s won every debate he’s ever been in, even the ones that were rigged (SAD!)

It’s weird how Trump and I are both inept debaters. We both have no skill in this area. He just has no clue about this kind of weakness.
In the 2020 debates, Biden was repeatedly addressed as “Vice President Biden.”
I’m sure the moderators will extend the same courtesy to Trump this time, and address him as “President Trump”.
What I predict is this: he will have the first debate, and get utterly trounced. Then he will rant about how it was a rigged and stolen debate. Biden cheated at the debate. The questions were unfair towards Trump. The moderator was biased. He was repeatedly muted every time he tried to shout when it was Biden’s turn to speak. Biden was given the questions in advance. And even then, Biden wouldn’t have been able to answer. Biden’s assistants must have provided him with the answers. We know Biden can’t speak, so when he does it must be cheating.
Then he’ll refuse the second debate, having proved that it’s unfair, and everyone knows it.
Considering that we’re apparently starting the debate season three months early, there’s gonna be plenty of time for more than two.

I don’t think that Trump is that worried about debating, or that he has much to worry about. Presidential debates are no longer the defining moments in campaigns. And they no longer reward the more skilled debater as they once did.
Even if Biden successfully parries Trump’s stream of lies and distortions onstage (and that’s a big if), it is unlikely to change minds in the voting booth. And Trump knows this.
Maybe. He’ll definitely rant about it – from what I’ve been reading lately he’s becoming increasingly furious and unhinged, even by Trump standards. Whether he cancels the next debate I’m not so sure about. That would require him to perceive that he’s doing badly and harming himself, which his ego and narcissism won’t allow, and also remember that he has a sycophant on staff who is 100% full-time dedicated to providing him with stacks of only positive news coverage from right-wing rags about his latest escapades.
IOW, Trump lives in a bubble and never sees the real world, except when it bites him in the ass like this felony conviction. That’s why it’s really driving him nuts. He just can’t fathom how such a thing is possible.

It’s remarkable how the meaning and function of Presidential debates has changed over the years. Once upon a time Presidential debates were a way of informing voters of candidates’ positions on various issues. There were, of course opportunities for candidates to exchange barbs, and audiences have for many decades registered non-verbal factors as well (e.g. pasty white nervous Nixon vs tan and calm Kennedy). However, what passes for a ‘debate’ these days bears scarce resemblance to that of yesteryear. No, I believe Trump will appear at the debate, however, he will not actually ‘debate’ Biden, and will use his time not to address any actual questions that moderators raise, but instead, will hurl invective at his opponent. Not a bit of meaningful exposition on policy will be heard from his lips.

Again, to a rational thinking person, you are correct; to the MAGAts, they’re going to eat it up. He won’t answer most questions - he’ll rant about the border or about the lawsuit conspiracy against him or whatever will get his followers riled up. He will find a way to take a question about the volcano erupting in Hawai’i and turn it into a screed on the Democrat Party trying to bully him.
That gets a great big “Duh!” Hell, I’m sure he’ll bring up “The Biden Crime Family”. Every accusation is a confession.

I’m pretty sure that his insistence that Biden take a drug test is his ace in the hole for backing out. Trump is a master of preemptive capitulation (“If they win, they cheated”) and this is his get-out-of-jail card. “He refused to take a drug test. What is he hiding? He and Hunter smoke crack together! Everyone says so!”
If trump’s parole officer orders a drug test, can we FOIA it?
