I’ve voted in every single election (except 1, I think, and it was an off-off year election, and I think it was because I was at sea in the Navy and missed the deadline for the absentee ballot) since I turned 18. I’ve never missed a Presidential or mid-term election.

In reading this thread up to this point I can say that my view on this move is the same as yours. That said, your point here, if expanded, really says that the military is degraded every day, when someone with skill and experience is killed, injured or retires. But at the same time, the military is improved every day, as well, as I’m sure that sometimes replacements for the killed, wounded or retired are better than the people they replace.
So, the only argument I’m not buying fully is that this will necessarily make our military less effective.
As I said, I agree with your position on this thus far in the thread. But even granting the existence of some small degree of degradation, is it not possible that the costs outweigh them. And by costs I mean the totality of cost of operation, cost of having servicemen out of operation while they transition, and the cost of integrating people who are going through the transition. As someone upthread pointed out, the military routinely rejects people who have skills that could benefit them due to medical conditions that would be a cost in time and money.
Just to be clear, I think the military should be built in a way that makes it the most effective. Period. L, B, G T or straight should all take a backseat to that.

It seems the bill to ban gender reassignment surgeries was proposed by Republican Rep. Vicky Hartzler, who’s on the Committee on Armed Services, but she ain’t no general.
But she is super stoked about Trump upgrading her transgender surgery ban to a flat out transgender ban.
Obviously nothing increases military effectiveness like a moronic, deluded, buffoon acting as CiC issuing sweeping, morale effecting policies changes with no explanation or clarity.
