Oh, I don’t know about that. I’ve seen countless instances when liberals insist we turn a blind eye to logic, facts, science and reason in service to political correctness. In my own life I’ve heard people called sexist for pointing out to a feminist that there are indeed some things a man can do that a woman can’t (and for the record things a woman can do that a man can’t, but they likewise get left out of PC discussions). And I’ve seen and read of people getting called racist for making the perfectly obvious observation that blacks seem to excel over whites in sports. I’ve also on occasion seen liberals admit the reason for this is that if we admit a racial difference in one way, even if it’s positive, it opens the door to bigots arguing negative differences exist as well. So to be good and humane citizens we’re expected to ignore reality and pretend a different one exists because the goal is righteous. Now I’m not in any way favorable to people making racist remarks (provided they’re really racist that is), but I’m also not favorable to people getting called names for daring to comment on ‘inconvenient truths’, and liberals insist on this all the time. So what happens to your vaunted liberal appreciation for facts, logic, reason and science when these issues come up, eh?

They’re simply examples of instances where liberals insist a blind eye must be turned to reality for the sake of some societal goal, and I’d bet dollars to donuts every person here knows and has observed exactly what I’m talking about whether they’ll admit it or not.
And nice try for acting like even if some liberal somewhere ever behaves this way it’s far from the norm. It’s pretty much always the norm.
Where are you getting the notion that “essentially apolitical” people are a significant demographic in this survey? AFAICT, the survey report divides respondents into those who are Democratic or Democratic-leaning, and those who are Republican or Republican-leaning.
Well, if you want to persuade anybody else that they’re actually true, then yeah, they kind of do.
If, on the other hand, you just want to go on reinforcing your own views in the personal echo chamber of your own brain, then never mind and carry on.
Unfortunately, the Pew poll cited in that article does seem to be an outlier; polling since the election has been all over the map, but no one else places his favorability quite as low as that one. (Even so, he’s pretty clearly coming into office with lower favorability ratings than most incoming presidents.)
