Trump's new cabinet

Elmer Rhodes in charge of the Praetorian Guard.

Which of course means they’re okay with all the other shitty appointments. Talk about doing the bare minimum.

The Peter Principle in real life. On steroids.

From today’s New Yorker:

Unfortunately, only Krusty would actually surprise me, and that’s because he isn’t real. Now, if they put Herschel Walker in that spot, I wouldn’t be able to tell if Onion satire or real.

< Deleted by poster…was a repeat >

He already promised to put Walker in charge of missile defense.

Jesus wept.

If that actually happened I suspect this one absolutely would not be confirmed by the senate. The generals would have a conniption fit (and rightly so) that I doubt even a MAGA senate would ignore.

I don’t think that “missile defense” is a position subject to presidential appointment.

Good point. Space Force cuz rockets? I assume that is a military position but with Trump it’s hard to guess what he might try to do.

Regarding the Ethics Committee report - is there any legal reason that the report can’t be released to the public? Who is on the committee? Is it matter of a vote of the members? If its a more an issue of “normal and customary” or “no longer necessary” or some such nonsense, that should not be an impediment. If necessary, leak the damn thing. The Rs have been playing dirty pool for so long, its about time the get a taste of their own medicine.

He heard that Walker had experience with long bombs.

Seriously, and I’m asking because I really don’t know—is there such a position as, “Person in Charge of Missile Defence”?

Yes:

I do not know if Trump (any president) can put a civilian in that spot. I’d like to say no but I am not certain.

Perhaps whichever general has command over NORAD?

I guess we’ll find out. Lt. Gen. Collins sounds a helluva lot more qualified for the position than Walker, certainly.

And thanks for the answer to my question. Much appreciated!

Isn’t that usually a Canadian general?

The House Ethics Committee could release the report. In past instances where the Committee was investigating a Member who resigned, they’ve shutdown the investigation without reporting any findings. The rationale being that the former Member was now beyond any jurisdiction of the House.

But they could release it. The committee s evenly divided between Rs and Ds, so you’d need one Republican to agree.

The current commander is American.

What is the chance of Trump pushing through his “Appointment During Recess” scheme? This would him allow him to appoint anyone he wants to while allowing congresscritters to keep their hands clean and say that they never actually voted any of them in.

BTW, I am really hating this new season of “The Apprentice”.
