They don’t need to gerrymander the Senate — 31 states have a Republican partisan lean versus 19 with a Democratic lean (as measured by the Cook PVI). The only way Democrats were able to scratch out a bare majority in the current Congress was by holding onto three seats in deeply red states, and all but running the table in the swing states. Those three seats are now gone. As long as Republicans pull just a couple swing state seats, they have an effective lock on the chamber.
Trump announced on Truth Social that he won’t be asking Nikki Haley (or Mike Pompeo) to join his Administration for his second term. Way to go Nikki – you spent the primary attacking Trump then debased yourself by giving him your full endorsement. And it avails you nothing.
Possibly, it put her lower on the list for targeting by the face-eating leopards.
Assuming this thread applies to all senior level positions in the Trump Administration, today he announced:
- Stephen Miller will return to the White House as Deputy Chief of Staff.
- NY Rep. Elise Stefanik will be Trump’s nominee for US Ambassador to the United Nations. This will necessitate a special election for her district, which is solidly Republican.
- Former ICE Acting Director Tom Homan will be the “border czar.” This will be a White House staff position not subject to Senate approval.

Tom Homan is very frightening. He has said that he will not allow New York to be a sanctuary city.
He’s the new border czar.
