I actually agree with Mike here, but I think they’re also going to try to link some of that money back to other principals in the case.
But remember, Manafort committed some really serious crimes with international implications. He’s the kind of criminal who home gets raided by armed SWAT teams.
And his scurrilous connections were well known. And this man approached Trump and offered to work for free on his campaign and Trump said yes. Just how freaking stupid and self-involved do you have to be not to realize this person had an ulterior motive?
How anyone can think this is good for Trump is beyond me.
They are going to need a new communication director. Seems like Ted Nugent would be a good fit. Once they add the Nuge and Seagal, all they need is to find a place for Vince McMahon and that should finally fill President Camancho’s staff.
Not forgetting Scott Baio. He might be better for Communications–permitting Nugent to take the helm at the CDC, where his familiarity with cat scratch fever will be a real asset.
The show’s puns and wordplay on the name were far superior to the performance.
But dude is a true Trumpian, in personal character as well as in overt support. I’m surprised he hasn’t yet been tapped for a role in this administration.
With the amount of staff turnover in this administration, there will be plenty of room for them along with all of Trumps other BFF’s. You know, Hannity, the lovable cast of Fox and Friends, Alex Jones, Don King, Putin, etc.
The school shootings in Parkland could be remembered as a significant factor and pivotal moment, not because it has anything to do with Russia, but because it is a progressive cause that enjoys a lot of public support. And the students, some of whom will be old enough to vote in November, could be putting together a significant political movement between now and then.
The Democrats have been screaming about Russia and collusion since the end of 2016, and they’ve (we’ve) been cheering every Robert Mueller revelation as it comes to light. But those issues aren’t what’s going to stop the Republican authoritarian madness. It’s emotions and passions that are going to win elections, and the passion is increasingly favoring the left right now. And unlike after the Newtown massacre, they don’t have a black “communist, fascist dictator” to cry wolf about anymore.
I bring this up because it’s not really Trump who’s colluding with Russia - Trump is a useful moron. It’s the plutocratic right wing (much of the GOP) that’s knowingly colluding with Russia. The way to stop that is to beat them at the ballot box. But therein lies the danger: Putin is going to try to wreak havoc at the ballot box, and some in Congress will knowingly let him.
Emotion is a notoriously fickle thing. Eight months is a long time to sustain it in the memory of a lot of voters.
Oh, I think it’s pretty clear with all the various contacts with people in Putin’s circle and Trump’s own statements that he knew about and abetted the Russian activities. Proving it is another matter, but there’s way too much smoke for there not to be fire, especially where the King of Shady is concerned. There’s no way Junior went larking off on this on his own. I’m sure he, Jared, Manafort, and Big Daddy at the very least were involved.
I agree, eight months is a long time to sustain memories and emotions in the minds of voters. Tragically, if the past is any guide, it is highly likely there will be another equally or more horrific mass shooting before the midterms. Possibly multiple such events. Given the reaction to Parkland I expect any more such tragedies will only inflame the outrage against the proliferation of guns in our society in general and assault-style weapons in specific.
To be clear, I would be ecstatic if no further mass shootings happen, period. The problem is I see nothing to make me think that is remotely likely.
Schizophrenia typically manifests in the late teens to mid-twenties, and recent research in developmental neuroscience has indicated that there may be a ‘genetic clock’ which controls development which controls gene expression and would give a mechanism for why certain mental illnesses tend to occur in specific age ranges. However, I would caution against assigning any particular cause to this shooting until there is more information to go on. We don’t know what may have occurred or why this person decided to end two lives and destroy his own, but it is a tragedy for everyone involved or more than peripherally associated.
