Trump's Republican primary campaign

I didn’t say that. I said he was making things up, which I know for sure he is, since the things he is claiming to know are** my own perceptions of reality and intentions.**

You can try to justify this bullshit all you want. He does this constantly. And I have seen other posters warned plenty of times for breaking the lying accusation rule when they merely insinuate dis-ingenuousness. BrainGlutton explicitly accuses me of it, over and over, without intervention. But of course the previous warnings were also to posters expressing different opinions than the moderators and favored posters hold.

When one runs across old discussions on this MB the bias is very clear. The discussions are littered with intelligently written, thoughtful posts from posters who have since been banned. The likelihood of the banning can clearly be seen to be inversely proportional to the degree of agreement with the general narrow minded worldviews of the moderators and the bulk of the regular posters.

It’s so blatant that I am overwhelmed by vicarious embarrassment when I come across those old threads, while searching random stuff on Google.

Well, as noted, Trump is popular among about 1/2 of the Republicans, enough to win a lot in the primaries, but Trump continues to fail with the majority of the people in the general electorate.

I also do think that there is more trouble brewing for Trump because a good chunk of the right wing media is not going for bullshit politics and they are putting the notice early that they will not support Trump in the general election. I do not remember a similar situation in the modern era that has a revolt like that going in a general election.

And then of course, as pointed many times before, Trump remains very unpopular, and not only among democrats, but also among independents and even among the people that are supposed to be his base.

Which is why you got a warning. Any sentence that starts out with, “You are…” is a personal characterization, so unless it is a compliment, it is not allowed. However, saying “Your argument sucks donkeyballs” is perfectly OK. See the difference?

The most popular album last year sold less than 9 million copies worldwide. So yes, nine million votes for president qualifies someone as popular. The list of people who have gotten that many votes for POTUS is not very big.

Since when, 1916?

Yes, I do.

I also see that people are warned for breaking that rule when they merely imply that someone is being disingenuous, while in the post I was responding to, and countless others, BrainGlutton was, due to the absolute constant vacuousness of his arguments, resorting to explicitly accusing me of being disingenuous. Like, he actually used the word in the post that I have seen other moderators use to explain why someone was being warned, as in “you are implying that the poster is being disingenuous, which violates our rules against accusations of lying, here’s a warning”.

Every candidate, winning and losing, going back to 1940. That’s as far back as the site goes.

Yes. Twenty-seven people since then, and another few handfuls before. Out of the billions who have ever lived. It’s an elite club.

Compared to the total number of candidates, it’s a very high percentage.

In this election, it’s one of seventeen on the GOP side with another on the Dem side. Not a very high percentage.

You are trying to make the argument that getting so many votes is the norm for a major party candidate for POTUS. That doesn’t address my argument, which is that (almost) becoming a major party candidate puts a person in a very elite club, and means that they are at least as popular as Guns and Roses or NWA ever was.

Raised voices, racial remarks, “it’s not fair,” rules lawyering, protests, walk-backs, bluster, ego and threats. This thread is officially a microcosm of the Trump campaign.

All we need now is someone getting elbowed in the eye and a threatened lawsuit and we can all fill out our Bingo cards.

They were candidates for the nomination.
And what the everloving fuck all do record sales have to do with a major election?

It won’t be a microcosm of the Trump campaign until BrainGlutton hires Bangladeshi hackers to take down the forum in the name of combating hate speech.

Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I’m being repressed!

Dude, this quoted bit right here is a pretty strong indication that you have gotten way too personally invested in…whatever it is you think you are doing here. Just sayin’.

.

Yes, winning candidates.

They are a gauge of comparative popularity, since my characterization of Trump as popular was, without basis, spit back at me as untrue. Outrageous even.

The day after Trump won 60% of the GOP vote in New York. :D:D

The revulsion from truth and the mass delusion are fascinating.

No, only one will be a winning candidate for the nomination. The other 16 are losers.

There is nothing wrong with attempting to shame and ridicule people into not making idiotic posts.

This MB is chock full of perfect examples of the kind of self righteous idiotic posturing that has reached a tipping point, resulting in the Trumpening, for better or worse.

There is just a certain element among the left, the “regressive left” as they have been labeled, that can dish it out all day long but can’t take it.

OK, so self-reflection is not exactly your long suit. Got it.

Trump yet again retweets another white supremacist.

ENOUGH!

Take the personal squabbling to The BBQ Pit or e-mail.

Stick to a discussion of the Trump campaign based on actual facts and logic.
