Trump's Republican primary campaign

That’s nothing new-they are already working against him already.

Everybody considers themselves a moderate. Or, a radical, whichever the times call for.

So far, pretty much all the times have called for radicals. Radicals hope to change that, because the call of duty is honorable, but not nearly so pleasant as the loon.

I think it’s because nobody much gives a shit yet. The election is a year away. Just about the only bunch of Americans who are totally involved in politics every day all day… is the troglodyte Republican base. Sure, some of us leftish always check the news, talk about it, bitch about it. If you don’t listen to reactionary talk radio or watch CNN, MSNBC or Fox, you are unaware that much of anything is happening.

But you add us to them and that’s pretty much it. Nobody else is paying any attention to what appears to us to be important.

Trump is a lout. He will fuck it up. Republicans who are worried about him should just take a chill, he ain’t gonna happen.

Not saying it isn’t interesting to watch, because train wrecks just are interesting. But nothing is really happening until lots more people start checking names in boxes at caucuses, primaries, and baboon shows.

And by that time, it’ll be Romney…

I do think that Trump is a target rich environment, the media is holding a lot of punches here and ignoring a lot of skeletons, and those are known but I would not be surprised that they are many more.

I still think that the media was expecting the gravy train to arrive for the presidential election, but they have figured out how to make it come early for the Republican primary.

Latest:

Alabama - Trump, at 38%, polls as well as all other Republican primary candidates combined.

OK!

Didn’t they always do so before?

That word cloud for HRC counts “Liar,” “liar,” “Lier,” & “lier” separately. That’s weird. :dubious:

Yes, they really should have cleaned that up, combining all those and “lie” and “Lie” into one. But wow - Alabama voters *really* don’t like Clinton, eh?

They also really don’t like interracial marriage, at least not compared to the rest of the country.

What is truly weird is “obema.yes”. That’s stranger than even “capitalize”, which is indeed in lower case letters.

I dislike pretty much everything about Trump, and he comes across as arrogant here, but I think he’s essentially correct.

He doesn’t need to know who these people are right now. At such time as he does need to know, he’ll outsource the research, the intelligence, and make a decision based on what’s presented to him. We’ve seen how that can go horribly wrong (Bush), but the basic model is sound.

Please don’t misconstrue my comments as support for him; I just think it’s possible to delegate effectively without having much information, so long as you’ve conscientiously vetted the people you’re delegating to. Trump’s personality does not seem conducive to that, but hypthetically someone else’s could.

The easiest way to score an upset is to get your opponent(s) to take you lightly. That phase is probably over for Trump. He may actually have won this by sinking JEB!, but there’s a better chance that he won’t hold up against serious competition. If he does hold, if he does the work and spends the money needed to win some primaries, then get used to President Trump. It seems so unlikely he’ll get that far, but go back to my first sentence.

No, has appeal to the TP base but he’s too alienating to win the general election. Even Sanders could beat him handily.

Clearly, Trump is a Muslim secret agent, and most likely aligned with Iran’s dominant sect. The Shi’ite is really going to hit the fan, now!

Way too alienating. He wants to raise taxes on the rich, defends planned parenthood and is going to keep the Iran deal. Now I forget which one of them I’m talking about.

  • Trump 45%, Clinton 40%.
  • Trump 44%, Sanders 40%
  • Trump 44%, Biden 42%
  • Trump 44%, Gore 41%

Most of the traditional GOP and Democrats should worry just a bit, but not much until I see the endorsements going to Trump.

adaher, can I borrow you Wild Ass Prediction hat? Thanks. (Kinda small…)

Trump will never make it. Sooner or later, he will shoot his mouth off the wrong way. Probably sooner, but he’s got a long time. The punditti thought it would be much sooner, and they were wrong. Donald Trump might defeat all his enemies except Donald Trump.

(Dons hat) This time, next year, he will be forgotten but not gone. (Remove hat, add lefty cooties, return…)
