Trump's Republican primary campaign

sorry. English not my first language.:o

I have to admit that I’m troubled by the presence of protesters outside Trump rallies.

I’m all in favor of protests when actual leaders and policy makers are around. But Trump is none of those (and God willing, never will be). His only offense is being a blowhard and an asshole. Protesting because some unemployed gasbag is bloviating inside an auditorium is veering dangerously close to preemptively stifling speech.

I see nothing wrong with protesters outside of his rallies, or even inside his rallies, as long as they don’t get violent. If someone manages to get in, they should be escorted out by security without violence. Same for rallies by any other candidate. He is promoting awful, hateful ideas that people have problems with, and even if he’s not elected he’s still gotten those ideas further spread. It’s like protesting someone who’s promoting Scientology or the “link” between vaccines and autism, they are troubling ideas that people don’t like and should protest if they want to.

It’s an extremely fine distinction between “protesting someone who’s promoting Scientology” and “protesting someone who’s proselytizing their religion” and “protesting someone who’s practicing their religion” and you’re now in Thought Police territory.

Bobby Knight says Trump, like Truman, has the guts to drop the A-Bomb.

Do you know how idiotic it sounds to call Trump “unemployed”? Both in terms of reality and effectiveness as an insult?

I was trying to think of a pithy way to describe someone who is bereft of policy-making and executive power. That’s what I came up with. I guess “impotent” might have been a better choice.

What is his actual job?

Yes, impotent is a perfect word. After all, he only has a shitload of money, a wide array of real estate holdings and millions of devoted fans.

Landlords are unemployed? Golf club owners are unemployed? Anyway I’m sure he’s got titles and/or positions on his various corporations.

I assume he’s self-employed. Although I suppose it’s possible that he draws a paycheck from one or many of the businesses he’s involved in, I would think that most of his income comes from businesses he owns or outside investments.

So people can’t protest against him until after he’s elected? Or will you cut them a break and allow protesting to begin after he’s nominated?

He’s a serious candidate for the office of President of the United States, and if that doesn’t allow for protesting, nothing does.

From here.
According to his financial statements he filed when he declared his candidacy, he has 487 job titles.

There’s no way he could possibly run that many companies day to day. Which are honorary and which are real?

Trump might not be one of the “actual leaders and policy makers,” but he is running for president and he is currently the Republican frontrunner. The protests are fair play.

They’re all real; at least the ones in business he controls are real. He may hire someone to manage it, and not be involved in day to day operations (or even year to year operations!), but if he decided to swoop in one day in order to kick ass and take names, he could.

People who run one company aren’t necessarily in charge of day to day either. Bill Gates, for example, was a big picture guy, not the person who approved the hiring of a new programmer in sector 42-G.

ETA: I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make.

He runs the people who run the companies. Not so difficult once you reach a certain size and you have the talent to recognize, hire and motivate good people.

I don’t know. If you feel like diving into the research and find out if they are all honorary to prove Trump is unemployed, feel free.

Journalist Julia Ioffe (a Russian-born Jew) does a not-very-damaging profile of Trump’s current wife Melania . . . and gets hit with a wave of anti-Semitic hate-mail/tweets/phone calls. Including pix of a concentration-camp inmate with Ioffe’s picture superimposed.

I’m sure neither Donald nor Melania is in any way actively behind this, but it makes you stop and think about some of the people in Trump’s base.

Have we made note of the gofundme page dedicated to helping certain celebrities move to Canada? They have managed to raise $75 of their one million dollar goal in just 3 short days.

Trump claims 31,000 people attended his rally in southern California.

Even one of the event’s hosts and organizers, KFI talk radio, says no, and laughs at Trump for being unable to count. The venue had a maximum capacity of 8,000 and wasn’t even half full. KFI estimates 3,100.

Trump exaggerates (lies his ass off) ten-for-one.
