Destroying the Establishment Republican plans to coronate Jeb/Walker/Rubio and exposing the fraud that is mainstream conservatism are very commendable things in my opinion.
We do have an idea of what Trump would do given political power-namely his policy statements. And none of what he has said are remotely equivalent to perpetuating theocratic absolute monarchy with beheadings for dozens of offences.
The difference is that 1) by virtue of being a member of royalty he has political authority and influence as well and 2) his made statements condemning the intolerance of others-namely Trump.
You called someone a “creature” based purely on their ancestry, rather than anything they personally have done. I think I see why the Donald’s policies have appeal for you.
Not because of his ancestry but because of his continued uncritical membership in one of the largest criminal organizations in the world, otherwise known as the Saudi royal family. If I condemned a member of the Mob, I’m not condemning his ancestry much less his ethnicity but his membership in the Mob even if its often influenced by heredity. Not to mention that I’m a social democrat for whom TRUMP’s appeal is purely strategic.
This “creature” is a moderate who’s called for reforms in areas such as elections, women’s role in society, relations with Israel, and other topics right. His dad was previously drummed out of the brownies back in the 60s for similarly calling for elected assemblies.
Can I ask just what someone has to do to escape your “uncritical” category, as apparently if you’re not critical enough of the family you’re born into in your world you can classify someone as an animal.
Its quite obvious to most observers that this windows-dressing for his plutocrat friends in the West so that the shareholders don’t complain too much.
Call the Saudi state for what it is-one of the most violently reactionary and theocratic places on Earth and probably one of the few places where I’d find a Bolshevik revolution perfectly justified.
Incidentally, as a side note I might say that the Democrats are missing a Yuuge opportunity by not going Joe McCarthy on the Saudi lobby. The Saudi lobby is a big fat juicy target that can attract both liberals (reactionary theocrat monarchs, promotes aggressive anti-Iran foreign policy, Big Oil) and conservatives (funny look Moslem foreigners, subversion of the nation, terrorist ties) and can quickly be extended to target traditional bugbears like the Koch brothers, neocon lobbies, and the like. In doing so, the Democrats can simultaneously take off the pressure on refugees and bring more of them in while literally trumping the Republicans.
I’d rather nobody did but considering the current system especially with Koch Brothers already doing it, I don’t blame him. Its obvious though Trump isn’t solely running on money-he isn’t funding massive tv ad campaigns and instead relies on his tweets and statements to gain publicity and being a billionaire doesn’t automatically make you a population politician (case in point, Steve Forbes)). And even the most repulsive billionaire here using money to influence politics is a whole different animal from a foreign, absolute, theocratic monarchy subverting republican government at home.
What’s flabbergasting, as I’ve said before, is that Trump would probably make the best President of any in this sorry list of four! I’ll put Cruz as 2nd-best: Despite his bat-shit idealogy at least he seems to be an intelligent guy, while Rubio has no qualifications but good looks, prevarication, and hackery. Rubio would be putty in the hands of his Koch controllers.
I wouldn’t call it fun. The only one of the four who is even remotely qualified would be Rubio, and even then he’s just a stooge of the Kochs. Cruz and Trump are just bombastic blowhards and Carson I believe took too many samples from his medication locker at work. 64% of Republicans support someone completely unqualified for the office. That isn’t fun, it’s scary.
From north of the border, clutching my Canadian passport, it’s fun.* When I consider my family and friends in the US, it’s scary.
*Though I realize that Canada’s fortunes closely follow America’s, and a bad government there is bad for people here.
Yeah, it’s bad. As a brown person with a British passport I will have to give serious consideration to getting the fuck out of here if Trump wins. Not in protest or anything, just because I’d be afraid.
Don’t say that too loudly. That’s what his supporters want.
That’s why my plan for Trump winning is to immediately convert to Islam, start tithing 10% to the Southern Poverty Law Center, and use my drone to drop water and food supplies to people crossing the Mexican border.
What are Rubio’s qualifications? He’s a first-term Senator, with zero executive experience, and zero private-sector experience. His only demonstrated talents are prevarication and fund-raising.
And some people view him as qualified for President. :smack: What am I missing?
Trump is on the record of being a climate change denier, so I while the Kochs will not control Trump in all issues, the bottom line of their fossil fuel enterprises will benefit.
