Trump's Star of David tweet

I wonder how many of them are Odinists

This was my initial impression…
But there are two not very attractive possibilities.

 1. The image was found via image search and stolen…If they don’t care about copyright at this stage it’s more than just a little foolish.
 2. Somebody on the campaign is regularly at such sites.

Neither is an attractive proposition

Ok, but remember that Jerry Falwell Jr. endorsed Trump.

And lots of evangelicals do as well, for reasons that lead to pundit head scratching:

All that said, I mostly agree with Captain Amazing. Except… anybody who has grown up in New York City has had some exposure to folks of the Jewish faith. Despite this familiarity, he has said some pretty odd stuff. Speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition he said:

“I’m a negotiator — like you folks”

and

“Is there anyone in this room who doesn’t negotiate deals? Probably more than any room I’ve ever spoken.”

and

““You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money. Isn’t it crazy? You want to control your own politician.””

Speaking for many, Bush’s former spokesperson Ari Fleisher said, ““Trump to the Republican Jewish Coalition: ‘You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money.’ What the hell does that mean?””

Headline at the Times of Israel: “Trump courts Republican Jews with offensive stereotypes.”

I don’t see this as outrageous so much as an indicator that Trump is an undiplomatic clod. Fine for inheriting money and driving businesses into the earth, but not for residing in the White House, having near limitless power of the pardon or any sort of access to the nuclear codes.

Damn, Trump’s candidacy hasn’t imploded yet. I’m shocked, SHOCKED!

Gary Johnson, one time Republican Governor and Libertarian candidate for President thinks Trump’s comments were clearly racist:

He has said 100 things that would disqualify anyone else from running for president but it doesn’t seem to affect him… The stuff he’s saying is just incendiary. It’s racist.

Give credit where credit is due. Ron Paul made kissy-lips with white supremacists, bigots, homophobes and holocaust deniers. I guess Johnson parts company with this Libertarian tradition.

You keep saying this as if it were plain fact. It isn’t. Take a look at this link. http://www.holocaustcenter.org/holocaust-badges

Scroll half way down. One of the most common stars in eastern Europe, the one my grandfather wore, was plain yellow and filled in with no lines. Sever stars on that page are tilted.

As a symbol of Israel you may be right about the rules for the Star of David. But hate groups typically don’t care for your rules.

If it wasn’t a star of David, what did it mean? You have to remember it takes effort to put this stuff together. Why put a star there at all? Why put anything there?

It was a “sheriff’s star,” obviously, because something something. … law and order … something something … Hillary is a criminal.

The Israeli Air Force seems to think their Star of David is correct.

What does the use of the symbol say about Trump? That he’s got minions who troll exceedingly Far Right sources. And he’s too clueless to pay attention, until someone rubs his nose in their messes…

Star or circle, to me it mostly looks like a sticker on an album cover.

Never said they were Catholic. End Timers are Fundamentalist Christians. Saying they’re Evangelical is like saying Americans support Trump. Sure the people that will vote for Trump are Americans, but by no means every American. Fundies are a very small sub-group of Evangelicals.

Yeah, but it’s BLUE. The star in the tweet was RED. Clearly an entirely different thing.

I think this is a good example where we shouldn’t try to mistake aggression for what is more likely explained by self-sabotage.

Trump’s latest tweet is demonstrably racist and is just another example in a long line of bigoted statements he’s made in this campaign.

But this repeated and determined efforts to shoot himself in the foot clearly demonstrates one thing and one thing only – He doesn’t want the job. This run for POTUS was just a publicity stunt that’s gone farther than he ever imagined it would go. He’s lost control but is too much of an ego-maniac to admit it. The only thing he can do now is try to out-buffoon the buffoonery he’s perpetrated to date and hope it will be the thing that finally derails this runaway train. To facilitate this outcome, he’s turning a blind eye to the wing-nuts in his own campaign.

Much to Trump’s surprise, he is caught up in the same rush of mass public ignorance that is mirrored by the Brit politicians who were pro-Brexit but now can’t abandon ship fast enough. He under-estimated the capacity of large numbers of people to believe and do stupid things.

Please, do tell us: the Stars of David that the Nazis made Jews wear, were they two clearly delineated overlapping triangles, or filled-in?

The problem with this theory is that these supposed acts of self-sabotage are damaging his brand…the one thing that has made him relevant among the power establishment. His antics could cost him money if investors start seeing him as a loose-cannon buffoon more than a smart capitalist. If he’s scorching the Earth just to lose, then he’s even crazier than we thought.

To hurt his own campaign while still keeping his brand intact, all he would need to do is tone down his attention-seeking behavior on Twitter, let HRC get some free jabs at him, and be tamer at his rallies.

Filled in, but yellow. Completely different things, unless you’re a dog.

Nobody but nobody who goes into business with Trump is laboring under the illusion that Trump’s brand isn’t riddled with bankruptcies, failed ventures, law suits, what-have-you. His brand does not seem to be diminished by bad press/optics any more than his ego.

Others have speculated that his next venture will be a Trump media oulet. He appears to be laying the ground work for why you can’t trust existing news outlets because they “all lie”. His, you see, will be the biggest, the most honest, news outlet. And if he manages to hang on to the army of mouth breathing morons that is his current voting base, it may well eclipse Fox News and many other conservative TV and online outlets.

Since I happen to be a color-blind Jew, can I despise Trump whole-heartedly?

The question of whether it is or is not a Star of David is completely irrelevant, and is intended to distract us from the fact that it came from a white supremacist website.

That’s not what the data suggests.

Investors factor in what how they think the buying public will put their dollars towards. If they think spenders will associate the Trump brand with lies, litigiousness, swindling, vulgarity, and bigotry, then they are going to back away from him. He may have always been seen as reckless, but never has he shown his backside like he is now.

Possibly, we’ll see. If Trump continues like he is, he will have no choice but to venture into media. His existing businesses are becoming vulnerable.

I think his using this image, is similar to GW slipping lines of Christian hymns into his speeches.

Like a secret handshake to the like minded.

Interesting. Thank you for the links.
