A friend told me that since Pearl Jam finished their contract with their recording label, that they would now only be placing their music online. Is this true and what are your feelings about this. I have mixed feelings about this. They are one of my favorite bands, and I like buying CDs. Sure, it’ll be cheaper now, but it isn’t as if I have regular access to a computer to download their music with. Won’t this put a great chunk of their listening audience to a disadvantage? I think far too many things in life are resting all their eggs in the basket of computers. Not everyone has one, and overall they are still expensive, even compared with the costs of a CD. I fear too many people are envisioning computers being the ‘be-all-end-all’ to the future. I know I sound like a ‘luddite’, but I’m sticking to my guns on this one.
