Trying to find a Nudie Magazine cartoonist

Why would I be considering him?

So, to be clear,

  • it’s a nude photo on one side of the page, and a cartoon on the other? Just a cartoon? any other text? Or did the cartoon occupy the whole page?

  • your dating of 1960 is an estimate based upon your assessment of the style of the nudie picture? There’s no actual date? Is it possible that it’s a reprint of the nude years later, with a new cartoon on the other side?

Any chance that you can show us a scan of the cartoon? If it’s NSFW use the two click rule.

It’s actually a “gatefold” (centerfold), so it’s three page widths, with a full color cartoon and no text on one “page”. The others have color photos. There are no page numbers or magazine names. The pages do not appear to have been cut down in size (margins appear normal, and nothing is cut off), but it’s smaller than the size of a Playboy or most other magazines, although larger than “digest” size.

Date appears to be 1960 plus or minus five years or so, based on style and on posing to avoid pubic hair. There is no date on anything. There’s no reason to think this a reprint of anything.

I can’t give a scan – I don’t have a copy at hand.

just a little joke, sorry, riffing on posts 6 and 8

Tell us about the cartoon. What did it show? What kind of art? Any text, caption, or speech bubble?

It shows a ballerina, her waist being delicately held by her kneeling partner, one leg raised high toward the audience, while she looks into the wings where the stage matron is holding her panties, which she obviously isn;t wearing.

DON’T send me or link to cartoons of this sort you find on the internet – I’ve searched it using appropriate descriptions and have found several cartoons with the same basic idea. None of them are the one I’m looking for. There’s even a related one by Jack Cole that appeared in Playboy in the 1950s. But none of the ones I turned up have that very clear “LARTIGUE” signature.
