Long shot here but I’m trying to locate a copy of a picture book my grandparents kept for me at their house that was a favorite of mine. Was from the late 70s.
Note: It was NOT a Richard Scarry book.
The details I remember:
-Was probably 12x12 hardcover, mainly white, glossy finish
-Contained random wordless activities, puzzles, panel cartoons of which some examples include:
-an illustration covering two pages of a countryside that contained hidden images of animals. There was a hippo in the clouds, a lion in some palm trees, a leopard in some tall grass, etc.
-a puzzle that was sounding out a phrase with images (bee)(4)(eye)(saw)…
-a short panel cartoon of a kid getting into mischief. In one he accidentally cuts down some flowers mowing the lawn so he gathers them into a bouquet to give to his mother. In another he is washing something with a garden hose and decides to spray his dog, he gets caught and ends up in a washtub with his mother hosing him down.
-I don’t remember the cover of the book but the back had a tic-tac-toe like grid with various characters in the spaces ala the brady bunch. One characters head was a rabbit with glasses and a shirt collar with tie.
Again, a long shot but that’s all I have to go by.
Try Marc Brown for his Arthur the aardvark books?
Sounds a little bit like a Remy Charlip book I used to love - Arm in Arm.
