Yeah, they’re not bruised up or do they have obvious marks, but the veins still have scar tissue that you can see without trying that hard. I don’t get everyone’s “just say that you donate plasma” line. I don’t get why somebody would believe a weird, niche lie like that.
There are reasons why a highly intelligent person might have trouble with grammar and punctuation. One is dyslexia. Another is they might not be a native speaker of the language. There could be other reasons. I’m not speculating that any of them do or do not apply in this case. But just out of interest, would they be deal-brakers on joining the military? Could a highly intelligent dyslexic who has trouble with writing have a military career?

Dude, I’ve shot the weed maybe a dozen times, and my doctor never noticed anything. You should be fine.
Rider, I think what you need to spend some time considering is what is provable and what is not.
There is no downside to trying to join the military if your cover story is not provable as untrue. Your word against theirs etc. However, if there is evidence that you’ve supplied false information, there may or may not be a downside.
I’ve never heard of the state of someones veins being considered firm evidence of previous drug use. But its not a subject I know much of, so I could easily be wrong. However, are there any records of you using meth? Hospital, law enforcement etc?
Nope no arrests but one time I went in into the ER for cuz i was sick I told the doctor that the reason my veins looked like that was because I had done crystal before and the visit was labeled as meth related. But really it was just my tonsillitis acting up and it makes retardedly sick and my throat swells up.
When my recruiter told me to get all my medical documents, I didn’t include that one cuz I knew it disqualified me.
Is there any way I can get the hospital to erase record of that visit? Or at least get it labeled differently?
And also, how thouroghly do they check addresses? Cuz I didn’t have an actual address for a couple years or so and I just lived at my girlfriends place but got all my mail mailed to my dads address.
- IV meth use
- Drunk driving
- ASVAB score of 77
Something here smells like a bad fit … you do not sound like somebody who takes orders well … may I suggest the skilled trades … there’s a bigger shortage of carpenters than there is a shortage of soldiers … plus you won’t have to cut your hair …
Just by the way you’ve reacted to the criticisms of your spelting and grammering tells me you will have a very difficult time in basic … your DI will pick you out for “special” treatment right away … are you really prepared to have these bad habit of yours broken? … the military has rules and they will expect you to follow them 24/7 … colons, semi-colons, commas and periods … there are rules about how these puncturation marks are used … if you don’t follow them it makes you look like a … ummm … well, nevermind what it makes you look like … in the military you have to follow rules is my point …
You have better options than joining the military … I’m sorry … not once yet have you mentioned patriotic duty … and that should be your most important reason to join …
Please look at the pictures a little closer. My veins are always showing
With my lines scores, I’m eligible for the jobs I wanted. 1. Truck driver/road repair, auto mechanic, and carpenter
Your just some random guy over the internet. How do I know you dont go home everyday and smoke weed and drink your self to sleep like a lot of people i know. Like a lot of military guys guys I’ve met smoke weed, defying the rules of “no weed”
What i mean is that I have average intelligence, I’m in shape and not too fat to walk, and I dont have a bunch of legal and health problems like some people do. Like basically none. It just seems weird that they’d disqualify for it even tho I dont do it anymore
Its spelled “breaker”. Hypocrit. You misspelled a word that 3rd graders do.
It’s official. The Dope has become the new Yahoo! Answers.
Exactly … skilled trades … there’s nothing special about military training in these jobs … you can get on a civilian crew and get the exact same training, plus much better pay, far quicker advancement and old track marks on your arm won’t matter …
Also … if you screw up in the civilian sector, you get fired … screw up in the military, you’ll be transferred to the cannon fodder platoon … training to storm a machine gun nest doesn’t translate very well to the civilian world …
When my son joined the Air Force … some fella came by my house with a bunch of topographic maps so we could establish where my son was born … the building had been razed and there were no county records of it ever existing … however that was part of my son’s TS/SBI clearance … doesn’t sound like you want to go through that … they will check with all the local hospitals if the NSA doesn’t already have a central database of medical records …
I’m sorry … you chose to mainline meth … you chose to drive after drinking … these choices have consequences that will follow you the rest of your life … the attitude you’ve displayed in this thread will need to change in a big way … or you’ll live four years of pure hell …
It’s “hypocrite” and it doesn’t mean what you think it does.
Anyway, back to the question. If your veins are as scarred up as you say, it would seem to me that a trained medical person will be able to tell whether you are a one-time user or were a frequent user. That said, you’ll never find out if you cop to frequent use now. If you do manage to get past that screening, just make sure you never try for a position that requires a clearance and an extensive background check, as investigators may find something or someone that could cause you problems.
I’m sure that you know that military life for a boot is drudgery. You do a lot of shit jobs as a junior enlisted man, and it can be boring. Add to that the fact that almost anybody can give you orders and that you have no choice but to obey them or face non-judicial punishment, that you may or may not work in your MOS of choice, that you are expected to be where you’re told to be when you’re told to be there, that you will stand endless inspections for uniform and grooming, that you will stand endless boring guard duty gigs, etc., and you have a good chance (as a past substance abuser) of reverting to your old nasty habits. It will take a serious effort to stay clean and to not hang out with guys who indulge in that behavior. If you can’t do that, there’s a good chance you’ll add Dishonorable Discharge to your resume.
Communication skills are improving.
Or maybe not. (underlines by Grammar Nazi)
And with the mandatory drug testing the military conducts, those military guys you know are not long for the sevice.
I don’t see any scar tissue in those pictures, I just see prominent veins, aka vascularity. Maybe the OP just wants people to see his forearms for some reason. As far as MEPs, the physical exam is fairly superficial, I don’t really remember them looking at my veins.
As a general guideline there have been lots of “I did/have this “thing” but can I still enlist in the Military?” threads on the dope and lots of ex military here, even some ex recruiters have offered very useful advice to those questions, but threads like yours that ask fairly directly “Can I get away with it?” tend to (with some justification) drive these folks hair on fire crazy angry.
People’s vascularity varies tremendously. Your vein photos look perfectly normal to me as a layman, but if you want to make them less prominent you might possibly try to do the opposite of what bodybuilders to make them more prominent (reducing fat to minimum and no water). Try putting on a few extra lbs (if you can afford them) and drinking lots of water to enhance fluid retention in the surrounding muscles and make the veins less noticeable. You can try it and see if it works with before/after photos so you can objectively compare the look. Do not do any hard exercise for a day or two before being examined that would make your veins stand out.
But beyond all this if there is absolutely no record of your having done drugs anywhere in any database and your arms in the photos look lean-sinewy but normal I’m not clear on how they are going to reject you other than saying “I don’t believe you” and there is no way to protect against that. All you can do is take your shot.
