TSA carry on questions

Their web site is less than informative.

I had heard, and see at other sources that a small knife (less than 2.36 inches) is ok for carry on. The TSA site says all are prohibited. I would just like to take a small multi tool with me. The blade is 1 and 1/2 inches long.

Also. Liguids. 100ml is ok. It your liquids and gels and tooth paste needs to fit in a quart zip lock. Fine. But it says per volume. Do they mean per container/bottle? So I could take 2 or 3 100ml bottles and some mini toothpaste as long as they fit in the zip lock?

The TSA website is correct regarding knives. You’re probably confused because of this:

It was. In early 2013, the TSA made a historic announcement that small knives were once again going to be allowed on planes. However, after receiving blowback from the public and strong resistance from the Association of Flight Attendants, the TSA decided to abandon the plan to allow small knives onboard. In short, regardless of how small it is, you are not allowed to carry any knife into the cabin of a plane.

There is still some good news, though. You are allowed to check a knife in your luggage. Of course, if you’re in the habit of putting your pocket knife in your pocket, there’s a good chance you’ll forget and end up walking through security.

As to liquids, the rules are pretty straight forward, and as you think, each bottle must meet the 100 ml rule, and you must put everything in the 1 qt bag, but since there is no rule saying you can’t have 2 bottles of the same thing, then you may have 2 bottles of the same thing.
