And please note the difference between an insult directed against a person and an insult against a large group.
ACCEPTABLE: “Anyone who likes the music of Enema is soulless and lacks taste in music.”
NOT ACCEPTABLE: "You like Enema’s music? Then you’re soulless and have no taste taste in music."
Translates to
ACCEPTABLE: All you people whining are butthurt whiners
NOT ACCEPTABLE: You are whining, you are a butthurt whiner

Why is it so hard to get a straight answer to a direct question here? Isn’t this the forum for questioning moderator decisions? So far, the mod in the OP has refused to reply, and now you do the same, preferring instead to make baseless accusations. As well as unnecessary and personal remarks.

After reading that mess of a “RESPECT MAH AUTHORITAH!” Cartmanish response I realized that trying to reason with some moderators and administrators here is a futile project as they cannot or will not attempt to be reasonable. They dig in their heels and see any kind of compromise as them “backing down” to people as if it is some kind of game.
It’s a shame because there are some good people here who are simply modding to try to make the board a better place. Those mods and admins are people who tend not to take themselves or the board too seriously. They don’t look at each negative interaction as a slam against their person or their authority nor do they seek out reasons (sock hunt!) to try to nail people. IMHO, that’s the kind of people you want handling things. That’s why Xash is, I think, a respected admin by most. He doesn’t read things with the idea of “what rule have they broken?” but more reading with the idea of answering the question so we can move forward.
Just reading the title of this thread lets me know that you’re not going to get a reasonable answer. Won’t happen. Like math, it’s a simple answer: Tuba + question that has an answer where a mistake must be admitted = Not gonna happen in this lifetime
You’re only going to continue to frustrate yourself and cause more hard feelings amongst people who agree with you and people who will defend the mods. In the end you’ll be no closer to hearing an answer than you were when you started. Just let it go. Honestly, it really is better for you if you let it go.

Yeah, that’s pretty stupid but I can top it. I got admonished once for telling someone not to use the word “whine” if they don’t intend to be insulting.
Obviously, except that when you insult posters specifically, it’s apparently more personal. That’s how the “cunt rule” works, and that’s why people don’t get warnings for saying bad things about liberals or conservatives or religious folks, etc.
But let’s do an edge case: what if I say “all of the people posting in this thread except for X, Y and Z have mamas who wear combat boots”?
It’s pretty clear I am talking to specific people who are participating in that discussion. Or better yet, what if the only other people in that thread are A, X, Y, and Z?
Either way, these sorts of round-and-round bouts of petty modding and outraged threads about petty moderating could be avoided by a clear and concise set of rules, enforced consistently, while still leaving a bit of leeway for unique circumstances, instead of post-facto rationalizations and conflicting reasons given for each action.
Yeah that one was a bit of a stretch too. Not sure if it tops the whole warning for joshing with your dad bit, though.
The “Thou shall fear and cower at the sound of my voice rule”. It is not on a sticky* but it is consistently applied.
He will continue to step closer and closer to you until you accidentally brush him and he will cry “assault” and slap you a warning or a suspension. If you are really unlucky we might all get a new rule. If you manage not to brush him for long enough, then you are being a jerk. Remember you are talking to the man who made “butthurt” a household term here at the sdmb. Beware.

It doesn’t really matter what rule he violated. The mods here are starting to make up rules as they see fit.
Hell, I’d pay $10 a year just so I didn’t have to read every single thread on the board, even when the thread title and forum location make it absolutely clear that it’s something I don’t want to read.
