TubaDiva gone? [Update: RIP]

Is anyone else thinking that her death might be a foreshadowing of the death of this board? It appears that she was a one-woman show administratively. Could it be that the corporate overlords might not be interested in appointing a successor and let it wither on the vine, or just pull the plug completely?

Let’s not be so pessimistic. One hopes that after all the expense and effort of moving the board to Discourse that management will want to continue the board, and even see it grow.

I had the same thought. The best thing we can do for SDMB is keep the volume up. The best thing we can do for Jenny’s family is donate when / where asked.

This makes zero sense, given what they have already invested in it.

Thankful to hear this. A big change to something that had barely changed in 20 years is so likely to come with blowback, I would have loved for her to be able to see that everything is going well and people, despite their initial grumblings, are appreciative and enjoying the new site.

Rest in Peace. This board is her legacy. Shocking news.

Mind bogglingly horrible and sad news. So sorry for people who knew and loved her, and for us who admired her skills.

OMG, she was the exact same age as a cousin of mine, and just seven weeks younger than me.

My she rest in peace and rise in glory. I will pray for her family.

Jenny was the heart, soul, brains, and hands of this community the whole time. This is an immeasurable, irreplaceable loss.

Just found out. Aaarrgggh!

The perfect phrase.

Keeping the board going–thriving–is one tribute to Jenny to which we can all contribute. How wonderful if those coming back to acknowledge this sad loss, give the new format a try and do some reading and/or posting! Perhaps many will decide that spending time on this site would enhance their daily (or weekend-ly-or whatever) routine.

Hear, hear!

I am shocked and saddened, just learning this news today. I never interacted with her directly, but now I regret never saying “thanks”. A reminder to never pass-up an opportunity to tell someone how you feel about them - you never know when you’ll never have that opportunity again.

What? Oh no. Poor TubaDiva

I just read this 5 minutes ago. I have been off the internet for a few weeks.

This is a tough blow.

She and I have been friends since 1999. As is the case with every friendship, sometimes closer sometimes not so close. But the joy and respect and commitment to supporting others is what she was about.

I’m very broken to read this and now there are things that will go left unsaid except in my prayers.

Rest in peace, Jenny.
