And, “e-mail me at SDMBcontraband@baddoper.com for more info!”   :o
I know moderating is YOUR job and not mine, but there is something about how you phrased that that grates on me. Is it the paternal tone? Is it “The members be damned!” attitude? Or could it be how it says, “You paid your money but are allowed no say in how the board is run so shut the fuck up?”
I can’t quite place it.
For me, it’s all three…
Here, for your personal edification, is a list of all the benefits extended to Charter Members:
Note please a decided lack of items such as “control of what moderating decisions are made/not made” and “permission to break forum rules.”
I think its Cajun Man’s condescending tone. Some mods are alright, but he keeps acting like he’s better than everyone else.
When in doubt, contact a moderator or administrator. If you are clearly breaking a rule, don’t do it, unless you contact the staff first and receive permission.
The thread broke an established rule and you act surprised the thead was closed?
Ask before breaking a rule. Is that so hard to understand?
As stated, I did not understand that I was breaking a hard and fast rule. I do now. As far as I’m concerned, knowing what I do now, I’m not in the least upset that it was closed. (I must admit, CajunMan’s tone grates on me as well.)
I’m glad this got away from me!
Seriously, I deliberately avoided posting to that thread in ATMB because I HAD cajoled Opal into making me a special shirt that commemorates the board (even though it’s not mentioned in any way).
I do think SDMB merchandise would be a decent revenue pop for the CR and have, in the past, suggested a few things privately to the staff. If I know anything it’s periodical and ancillary marketing.
But it’s there call to market or not. I just don’t think it should be a big deal.
And I normally have no problem with that and am quick to backtrack or even apologize when I break a rule, but that imperious tone tends to piss me off.
CajunMan’s a programmer, isn’t he? Well, they aren’t known for their diplomacy or charming personalities. But here I can’t throw things at programmers like I can at work.
DrMatrix is the insolent programmer. I’m the charming artiste.
Oh-HO! A high-handed and arbitrary artist! THAT explains a lot.
Thanks for the clarification, Mr. Junior Mod.
In re: Cajun Man, it seems painfully obvious to me:
Most mods clearly (and rightfully) enjoy the respect and admiration from the members for all their extra efforts. That, it appears, is their reward for the job well done.
A few, unfortunately, don’t feel that that’s enough, and have to act like arrogant assholes. I suppose it feeds their meek egos, though I’d really wonder about someone who needs that kind of silly power trip on a message board to make themselves feel better.
I just feel sorry for them, and sorry for the other mods cause it just makes their already atruistic job that much more difficult.
Cajun Man? An “arrogant asshole”? Wait, this is like one those Star Trek alternate universe things, where Spock has a beard or Kira is a lesbian domme, right? Yeah, that must be it…
I saw the alternate Spock episode, but I think I missed the alternate Kira episode. Could you link me to that one? Please??
Hmm…it was one of the DS9 alternate universe ones, where Kira was evil…was it “The Emperor’s New Cloak”?
Hmm…mainstream link with poor pic link:

There also might have been something on one the “Transsexual Trills” episodes too…
Thank you!! A blessing on you!
BTW, was she a good lesbian domme (in the sense that she’s on the side of truth and justice and the principles of delivering pain and humiliation to those who desire such, not that she’s good at being a lesbian domme, altho I hope she’d take pride in her abilities) or was she a bad lesbian domme (once again, in the sense that she stands for deceit, injustice, and the unwanted infliction of pain and humiliation, while performing to a high standard of dommeness as opposed to her just not delivering the goods)?
Was that clear?
It certainly was a runon sentence. But it’s late and I don’t feel like revising it.
Y’know, I think this may be taking away from the topic. Never mind about the domme thing.
Oh, and I think cajun man rocks.
