I’m a fan of Tuckerfan’s threads.
I wouldn’t mind a recurring “This week’s neat Science stuff” thread. That way we could keep it all in one easily accessible place. And you can’t really argue that neat stuff in science isn’t in keeping with the spirit of this board.

I, too, am on the anti-pitting line. His stories are things that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise, usually. Sometimes the humor that shows up is interesting, too.
I’ll ninth [or whatever we’re up to now] the opinion that I like Tucker’s threads. I get the space.com ticker on my home page, but he puts up a lot of things that I wouldn’t ordinarily run across in my daily surfing, and I usually learn things from the links he offers.

I share an interest in a lot of the science/space/aerospace stuff that Tuckerfan linkss. Just scanning the forum will yield nuggets of info that I am generally interested in, and I don’t have to dig for 'em.
On the one hand, methinks that creating 5 threads in 5 minutes on a well trafficed board like the SDMB is too much.

Holy molely, those are cool stories. And I’ll note that they’re from sites like http://www.eurekalert.org , not Reuters: most posters are not likely to just come across these stories.

Sorry, dude. I like Tuck’s posts. He isn’t doing it to pad his post count and he isn’t bragging about the number of threads he posts…he’s just posting nifty stuff.
I respect your opinion and I understand that you think it’s annoying. But, I think you overreacted a tad with a Pit thread. Oh well.

Not quite an anti-Pitting. I think he posts some interesting stuff, but five separate threads in a few minutes seems excessive and tends to monopolize the lead page. I like the suggestion that if that’s what he wants to do, he should start a weekly “Tuckerfan’s Whizzbang Science Thread” and consolidate his links there.
I like Tuckerfan, but I did think that that many threads in such a short time, without adding anything of his own, was annoying. A lot of the stories that I read on here don’t interest me as much as what other people say about them, and it’s the conversations and debates that I’m looking for, not just a quote and a link to an article.
Tuckerfan will deserve this pitting when he starts posting Time Cube crap.
Okay, so he doesn’t put much commentary into the OPs. But if someone cares enough about them to start a discussion, he always follows up.
