Turbo Tax or Kiplinger's Tax Cut

The subject says it all…
What’s your preferred method of doing taxes?
Accountant / CPA?
Tax Software?
If so, what brand? The two main ones seem to be Kiplingers Tax Cut, and TurboTax.
If you use one of those, do you use their online brand, or do you buy a software package?

I’ve always had a CPA do my taxes in the past, because I own a home; do some work that gets me a 1099, and since I got married last year, I’ll have that too.

I’m guessing my CPA will cost me between $400 and $800. If I buy the software, it looks like that will cost between $50 and $75. I suppose the real question is: Can my CPA get me the difference back to make up for the extra amount she will charge?

TaxAct. (I’m using H&R Block’s TaxCut this year because I got a free copy, but I’ll probably go back once Block wants money). You can’t beat the price. And why should I pay to get my own money?

I use TaxCut. I’ve never used TurboTax (in part because I’m boycotting Intuit) so I can’t compare the two, but TaxCut has done everything I’ve needed and been easy to use. Personally, I wouldn’t pay a CPA to do your taxes, as I just don’t see them arriving at a different answer (legally) than simply filling in all the fields in a tax software program – your situation seems pretty straightforward.

This was done already :smack:

Man oh man, I knew someone had to have already posted something similar. My search-fu wasn’t up to par today I guess. Mods, you may close this thread if you wish.
