It’s that time of the year, and I’m getting ready to do my taxes. This year, however, I was curious about buying TurboTax instead of doing it online.
Does anyone know the advantage of buying a copy of TurboTax vs doing it over the internet? I assume you have to buy a new copy each year (at full price? or is there an upgrade price)? The internet version on Basic, seems to be the same as the desktop version of Deluxe, but the price is different. Also, with the desktop version, can it do more then one return, or do you have to buy a copy for each return, and I assume since you purchase the program, you don’t have to pay to file.
I’ve used turbo tax two years in a row. The more expensive versions do have more features that are needed if you are doing anything more than filing a simple return.
For instance my wife is self employed. Last year we bought the Turbo Tax that allows you to issue 1099’s to subcontractors. This year we won’t need that but we still need to file the Schedule C which I don’t think you can do on line.
I have used turbotax for the last couple of years.I always by the deluxe version from Costco. It seems cheaper and contains rebates
Oh yeah,I let my girl friend use my version. She didn’t have to pay for the software but she did have to pay for the online service
